"I'll stay, I'd rather camp out in some field than be on those ships again." Richard says. "Anyone else find it strange how they seem to lack any large ships but apparently live nearly entirely off the sea? A bit odd for a port don't you think?"

"I'll stay, too. Richard and I can try to find this Glowtran while you were gone." Edwyn gave the bowl he had eaten from a look of disdain. "And perhaps we can find some better accommodations as well. Regardless, remember to show Gabe the ship's cannons as well. If the Admiral gives you trouble, don't hesitate to remind him that the mission would be jeopardized" He turns to the halfling.
"You see, our 'tree monsters' can spit fire as well, my friend. Perhaps they would make the best display of the power of our arms."

Ochita just rolls his eyes, and then turns to talk to the halfling. "What you call our 'wooden monsters' are what we call ships, um.. Like carts, for transport, only that they are on the water. It is true that they can 'spit fire' but what it actually is.. is.. shooting a bit metal ball, which is effective only on other ships. If your interested when we get there, I can tell you more."

Reposting for the sake of future reference.
I will take Gabe back to the ship and, firstly, serve him some chocolate (this is hot chocolate, as the solid form did not exist at this time. Also, I found out that, apparently it was said that "chocolate is to the Spanish what tea is to the English".) Then I will retrieve and present to him confectioneries, as he has likely never tasted refined sugar. After that I will show him the spices, saying, "I don't know what kind of spices you might have in these lands, but there's no way you can match the variety of the entire world."

I'll finish up with a demonstration of my pistol. I shall say, "this is a weapon which allows an ordinary man to kill at a distance without necessitating the strength required to pull a bowstring. They're also more than capable of piercing armor, so much so that the armies of Europe no longer wear it. Also, you can carry more ammunition in a smaller space than you would for a bow or crossbow; all I need is in this pouch and this horn, rather than a large, cumbersome quiver. And, finally, there's the sheer intimidation value of the thing: no one wants to get near a man with a gun; they make a very loud noise that will simply cause the enemy to piss their breeches. Let me show you." I will then point my pistol out to sea and fire.

Peter simply tagged along. If they wanted to fire the cannon they would need somebody strong to lift the cannonball and put it in. Other than that he wanted to mess with Henry and Oliver some more.

Kriegaxt:

"On my honor, I accept Lord Myval. No harm physical or spiritual shall to your priest shall I allow." you declare boldly.

"Very well, should you not fail the task by sunrise instruct Mayta to allow me to speak with you again, Orc. I bid thee farewell."

Mayta shakes her head and her aura returns to normal. "Oh... that hurt. I fell again when he entered my body, didn't I?" she wimpers. She paces around the shrine for a few minutes to walk off the pain before turning to you again.

"So Kriegaxt. Do you think you can handle whatever quest you were assigned? As much as I hate dabbling in the secular I can pull some strings and get you whatever supplies you need within reason. I've never had the opportunity to guide an initiate through a quest before, so anything you need done, I'll do my best to help you."

Edwyn + Richard:

The two of you ask some questions around the tavern and eventually figure out where Glowtran lives. You walk down the main road until you hit the market place, where you follow a distinctive odor to the fishery where you are told Glowtran keeps an apartment above the work floor.

The inside of the fishery is quiet and nearly empty. The only person in the room is a bright elf who you identify as Glowtrans son Coony by his snot green aura. Coony is surrounded by bottles that at one point likely contained Alcohol. He is staring in your direction but doesn't seem to notice you as he intently blows red smoke rings from his pipe."

Lord Edwyn calls out to him by name and the young elf snaps to attention. "Uggg... Huh? I... deeedint know... that the merchant guild hired... um... What yoooo call the people who are like Halflings but bigger?"

The elf staggers in your direction grabbing a butchers cleave off a table and waves it around haphazardly as he aproaches. "Soo... you bring a shipment? The sooooooooooner you unload the fishhhhhh, the soooooner I can round up the boys and have it all processed."

Everybody Else:

You load Gabe onto the row boat and take him back to the Speedy II. As you climb aboard Oliver peers over the rail and calls out to you. His rosy and smiling face betrays the fact that he is quite drunk. "I guess I should be thanking you *hic* damn Spaniards. Henry couldn't believe that what remained of Juan's stash of 'cocoa drinking powder' would be worth a bottle of Russian Vodka!"

Juan shoots the sea elf a dirty look and mutters something profane in spanish. Due to their status as the children of an important diplomat, Henry and Oliver almost never face disciplinary action.

As chocolate is now out of the question the group leads Gabe to the kitchens to meet The Mad Russian, who you find drinking chocolate out of Juan's tea set. You quickly set the dwarven chef to whip up some confectionery delights for the guest.

While waiting on the cook you take Gabe back to the upper decks to show him your guns. You explain how the weapons work and as a group fire a volley of pistol and rifle rounds out to sea. Gabe is quite impressed. "The merfolk and coneshellmen will love weapons like those!"

His bubble is burst however by Henry who staggers over and informs the halfling that powder weapons are useless while wet. 'He' then proceeds to make a fool of 'himself' by attempting to shoot down an empty vodka bottle from across the deck. After a few missed shots you decide to take Gabe inside to meet the Admiral before Henry shoots somebody.

The Admiral manages to stifle his generally apathetic and depressed personality and entertain Gabe by describing the wealth and power of England. "If you let us build the docks your father will be rich beyond his wildest dreams!" he exclaims. Gabe himself seems more cheery than you have ever seen him before. "I will be sure to recommend to my father that he approve construction."

The Admiral issues orders for the whole fleet to fire a volley of cannonballs westwards at sundown to further impress Gabe. The Mad Russian informs you that he will have enough goodies to feed the entire crew ready around that time as well.

Peter grinned. "Why, Henry. One would certainly believe you couldn't hold your drink... just like a woman. That's pretty odd, wouldn't you think?" he teased. "Hey, Oliver, why don't you take your 'brother' below decks and let 'him' sleep it off?" he said, laying the sarcasm on extremely heavily. "You don't want anyone to believe that she - I mean 'he,' of course - is a lightweight, do you? Besides, if you're not careful Henry might end up in Ochita's bunk a second time." He clapped the drunken Oliver on the shoulder and sat on a nearby barrel; he could amuse himself all day with these two. At least he had something entertaining to do while the superiors negotiated.

"I am confident, though I go forth in darkness...

Myval's quest is for me to defend you till sunrise-he says you will face a danger to your life and faith at the "witching hour", though you do not know it yet. What sort of danger do you think he meant?

Me and my friends can defend you from material enemies, but he indicated there would be something less than so, that would also threaten you...

For talk of provision, we'll speak of that afterward. Right now, can you send a messenger to my friends, and summon them if they will come? Unless Myval would prefer me to do this by myself, then I would make do.

-Message to be delievered-

To the Explorers of Remembrance

Friends, urgent news! Inspection of the altar revealed living proof of Godlike beings in this land, as many speculated. I have agreed to ingratiate myself in ones favor-a God called "Myval". Disregarding personal notions, I suspect the favor of a God will be very helpful here. I have uncovered evidence that a few of these priests were preparing to destroy our ships in the harbor, but I was able to avert it! Thus, I have undertaken a quest to earn his trust-and, by extension, the trust of the people in this land. We may also avoid a Holy smiting-I suspect Myvals pantheon is large, and me gaining his ear could very well determine the success or failure of this mission.

My quest is simple-defend the priestess of this shrine from threats both mundane and strange. I dare not leave the priestessess side until sunrise. If I can ask for your assistance, I would ask you to come to the shrine and help me fufill this quest. You are under no orders to do so, but it would be very appreciated.

Ochita + Peter:

"I'm a lightweight because I'm an Elf, not because I'm a *hic* girrrrl. I remember the last time Ochita got wasted. Two beers and he was prancing around the deck accusing everybody of being french!" Henry exclaims. "I just had almost half a bottle of Vodka, and I bet I could shoot a bullet over Ochita's Spaniard shoulder without harming his delicate skin!" Henry pulls out 'his' rifle but Oliver grabs 'him'.

"Wooooooaaaaa now sis-brother. Lets save our bullets for an occasion when we can actually shoot Spaniards instead of almost shooting them. Peter, why don't you be a reasonable Englishman and help me get him below deck before he hurts som-" *BANG!*

Everybody flinches as Henry's rifle is discharged into the air. "Goddamnit Henry!" Oliver yells. "At least we know it isn't loaded now. Come on Peter. Lets move him before he remembers he has a pistol as well."

Oliver, quite drunk himself, stumbles foward and grabs his 'brother' by the right arm.

Kriegaxt:

"Wow. My life is in danger tonight. Fascinating." Mayta exclaims full of excitement as opposed to the fear one would expect from her in this situation.

"I should probably be somewhere defend-able when midnight strikes. But before then I'd like to catch a play... this is the one night a month when that Wretched Kumar wont be at the theater. The festivities should end before the witching hour begins, and then we can head to the Catacombs. My grandfather's burial chamber has only one passage in or out, walls of solid rock, and enough objects and symbols dedicated to Myval to empower me."

She beckons to one of the bright elves worshiping in the shrine. "Kalest. Take this note and seek the Orc's allies."

You eventually hear back from the messenger who informs you that most of your friends have returned to the ships, and the remainder have gone to visit the heretic dragon loving Glowtran, whose house the faithful are forbidden to enter.

"Seems I'm on my own tonight..."

...But, Very well. We'll have to be prompt about leaving, though-it's no coincidence that whoever or whatever wants to do you harm, they've probably anticipated you going to the theatre."

Kriegaxt was actually interested in the play. It would have been a lot of fun to go with her under other circumstances...
He considered telling Mayta that is would be much safer just to go straight to the tomb...but somehow, he knew she wouldn't listen. And, he didn't really want to say anything that might upset her. The vauge nature of the threat made it nearly impossible for him to defend against, so he had to just be watchful and alert, and ready for anything.

Edwyn looks about the room, showing a glimpse of contempt before smoothing his face out to a neutral expression. "I'm sorry, good sir, but you are mistaken. We have not come to deliver fish, but to visit Glowtran, who I hear is your father." Edwyn holds forth his hand. "My name is Lord Edwyn Redshaw, of Strathwyke. It would be most gracious of you if you could show us to him."

"Of course," Peter said. He hooked Henry's other arm over his shoulders. "All right, let's get you some sleep. We can't have you accidentally shooting somebody. Not even your birthright would get you off the hook for that." Along with Oliver, he started escorting her down into the hold.

When Juan hears that Gabe would recommend to his father to allow the construction, he cheers up a bit. "Ah, this is fantastic news; we must celebrate! I should have a cask of Amontillado in my quarters. If the twins got into it, I swear to the Virgin Mother, I will bury them alive."
