Could Tak'mir sneak into the carriage and take out a few items then carry on, or too risky?

It's the most dangerous choice, but has the best payoff. You might just end up having them all against Tak'mir. :P

@Ashton:A failed encounter means you'll miss your chance at any loot or possible allies. Since I can't end the game, you'll have to settle with missing out on everything. :P

Trolls are pretty stupid. It would most likely try to eat us after we help it. Spider elves are mean bastards, and would split us open for entertainment. Help the gobbos by taking out the troll with a sneak attack. Then throw your bola at the spider elves.

That, and the goblins consider the contents of the wagon to be loot as well, rather than army supplies.

This is a surprising post, not because you can read, but because it implies there is any chance that a high school student from some part of the world might be unable to. I don't intend to pry, but I can't help but ask; what place is this-- with internet access-- that the ability to read in such age groups comes as a surprise?

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

My school, so near London, I wouldn't call it a surprise but probably about %3-4 of the people from my school never learned to read or write, not that large an amount but still in a school with 800 students there were quite a few dumb people.

Spoiler: Mass Combat spoiler! (click to show/hide)

Tak'mir decides to intervene on behalf of the Goblins-he tries to sneak up on the Troll, but the Kobolds smell must have given his position away! The Troll spots him and swings it's giant club at Tak'mir, and the Kobold rolls under it, as the weapon swings around the knocks one of the Goblins into the wall of the cave. As Tak'mir gets back up, he plants his feet in the ground and stabs his spear into the Trolls foot!

He jumps back to avoid a counter swing, and is faced with an two angry and confused Spider-Elves. He quickly tosses a bola at one, snapping it's spindly legs as it wraps around them, but the other closes the distance, and saying something in its hateful language, he slashes his axe across the Kobolds chest, drawing Tak'mirs blood!

He bolts, and the Goblins turn their attention to the Spider-Elves as the Troll finally collapses from blood loss. Tak'mir pokes it a few times, glad the Goblins already the majority of the damage. By the time he's turned around, the Goblins have finally overcome the final Spider-Elf, lopping off his limbs with a their rusty scimitars.

Bloody and whooping victory cries, two of the surviving Goblins begin tear into the carriage, while the Goblin who hit the wall doesn't seem to be able to walk. The "leader" of the Bandits approaches Tak'mir.

"That waz a good spot o' fightin' fer a small one like ya. Tell ya want, after me boys are done, ya can have whatevers lefts. Also, take this, fer the cut."

He tosses the Kobold a foul smelling brown-white potion, and chuckles.

Got Goblin "Healing" Potion

"So, what's yer name anyway? And what Tribe do ya hail from stranger? We're the Goblins of the Blacktooth Tribe."

Tak'mir chats with the Goblin commander while his boys gather up several chests worth of Spider-Elf gold, probably intended to bribe the locals for information on the Blackcough Caverns.

"We knew this where the golds was going-so we took it opern ourselfs to liberate it from de' evil Spider-Elf clutches." He says, without a hint of irony.

"Well, Tak'mir, it was nice to meet ya. I'll be sure to drop you and your tribes name next time we're aroun' to do busyness. I'd be careful of tha trolls though-they be known how to hold a grudge...my name's Zgoxab by the way. See you around.."

They depart amicably enough, the Goblins laden with both chests from the carriage, and dropped weapons and armor. Tak'mir looks through the caravan for anything that's left. There's not terribly alot-a silver ring dropped inbetween the cushions, a bottle of ink and a blueprint for some sort of...bird...machine. Tak'mir doesn't know what to make of it.

Got Silver Ring
Got Bottle of Ink
Got Strange Blueprint

Tak'mir stows it all in his bulging loot bag and moves on. In no time at all, he's reached the gates of his home-the Rot Fang tribe. The gates here are actually salvaged Dwarf doors, and very strong. They've even held off the Trolls a few times!

He walks up and bangs on the door, asking the doorkeeper to let him in. There's no answer right away, but he can hear voices on the other side. Eventually, they begin to creak open. The Doorkeeper, an Elderly Kobold named Puckchok, looks grave.

"Dwar'eet'ik wanting to see you lad, right away-you were supposed to be back this afternoon, and he'll be angry you got here late. You would be wise not to keep him waiting...been going on all day about he's gonna "teach you a lesson"...I'd not keep him waiting, no, not me..."
