What is it with rich, powerful people and golf anyway? I mean I guess you can't talk politics while playing most other sports, but still.

You can probably find enough rich people to buy an island and make your own country.

I would love to create a new nation. I believe in the saying, “if you want something done right, do it yourself.” Unforunately, starting a new nation would require enough military power to enforce its sovereignty, but I do not see that happening soon.

Nah, not if you buy a little island nobody especially cares about.

Sir Richard Branson has his own island but I believe it's not sovereign and he pays taxes somewhere. However, all the cool rich kids have tax shelters abroad to not pay taxes in the US anyhow.

For a semi-hilarious joke, look at all-American corporation war-contracted Dick Cheney-related Halliburton with headquarters in Dubai.

That sounds unstable, and you would need some way to compensate the wealthy with profits.

I wonder if one of the more impoverished nations would be for sale. I would not mind repairing the nation of an oppressed people if the ruler would part wth it for enough cash.

This post made my day. And then halfway before scrolling down to the next post, I thought the exact same thing that Vector was going to say.

EDIT: I mean hell, Nikov. I see people who are neighbors and co-workers and friends that I live peacefully with spout hate speech against women, latinos, african-americans, gays, and the poor as subhuman-creeping-islamo-facist-socialist-commie-gay-agenda and I just have to nod as to not cause a scene.

I save my hate speech for the communists. [/joke]

And our taxes:
"We're deep in the hole, so let's cut taxes on the rich while increasing sales tax and taxes on the poor"

To be fair, this is made under the belief that if the rich have more money, they will invest more which will breath life into the economy.

See, conservatives are racist. So if they run an ad, you look at it sideways, and it sort of seems racist, its racist, thus further demonstrating how racist conservatives are.

unfair assumption.

Middle-eastern terrorist telling his futuristic Middle-eastern class how not Americans patriotically supporting the troops helped them defeat America. And then the whole class laughs soullessly about it.

Black Professor telling his futuristic Black class how integration and legalising inter-racial marriage helped them defeat America. And then the whole class laughs soullessly about it.

Quote
Gay Professor telling his futuristic gay class how laws granting gays basic human rights helped them defeat America. And then the whole class laughs soullessly about it.

That makes no sense

Quote
Rich Mexican land owning professor tells his class how debt helped them defeat America, and how Americans sneak over Mexican borders to look for jobs. The class laughs soullessly, to the sound of Mariachi music.

*snicker*

You guys are all FANTASTICALLY missing the point of the commercial. the point was that instead of obama focusing on the economy, he spent most of his time in office on healthcare. The commercial was saying that if we let the wasteful spending continue, then SOMEONE Is going to wage war on us.

It doesn't HAVE to be Japan. We owe China the most out of any of our foreign debtors, and I'm rather sure Japan isn't about to invade.

That being said, you cannot fight back if you cant pay your soldiers.

try to stay OT :P

If you attract the right kind of people that might not be to hard. Get a bunch of rich people and scientists and you may be able to use non conventional weapons as a threat. I prefer bioweapons myself.
That sounds like a great way to get invaded by people worried about a nation of crazy people with illegal WMDs.  Seriously, I don't think anyone even wants to countenance what could happen if a serious bioweapon were released.

To be fair, this is made under the belief that if the rich have more money, they will invest more which will breath life into the economy.
A belief which has no foundation in reality, but sure.
