On a brighter note, someone called Obama a dick on live television.

Actually 'in' means that it can
Thats just incomprehensible. Regardless, I'm sure any such theories about the meaning of "in" would wind up inconclusive. It will probably just continue along waffling in indecision. Also, inanimate, inconceivable, inconsequential... I think its perfectly understandable why people get inflammable wrong. Because the people who invented it got it wrong, those bastards. It should be "enflammable" if they want to be be something that can burn, but old timey people had no idea how to spell.

That's why I only use "flammable" and "unflammable".

Irregardless is just kind of silly, but it doesn't really bother me. I see it like "awesometacular". just a combination of words for extra emphasis regardless of the meaning of the individual pieces! It's not worth regard TWICE AS HARD. ^_^

Nicely done, Glyphglyph. ;)

I have to admit, someway trough the post I thought to myself "somebody really should respond using a lot of 'in-meaning-not' words", then it kinda dawned on me what you had written.

English is fun! ... I always hated English classes... somehow those two are intertwined.  [woo!  intertwined ... a word composed of Latin (in ter) and Old English bastardization of Latin (bi- / twi-)+ne]

An inflammable object can be inflamed.

The problem is just that the start of the word happens to correspond to a prefix.

I think the candidates need to start talking about what their plans are, otherwise they might not have any plans.

I'm talking about making some kind of sensible planning like the Obama administration has been doing for the last several years. For example, the automaker recovery near the beginning of his first term; or the withdrawal plans sometime thereafter (which need to be re-worked into something that doesn't involve us continuing in paying money to corporations to help us occupy other countries for a while so companies can make money; and stick to the standing and ready force idea)

Perhaps such a plan would include influencing the supply of solar panels to rural households  at more affordable rates than currently possible through direct subsidies; to go along with the oil corporation's new wells within five miles of where we live, complete with floodlights, gas burner, truck traffic, road blockage, strange chemical smells on the drive past later at night.

Note that for the solar panel plan to work, either there would have to be a limit on the amount of panels for example (don't limit efficiency for fear of innovation) or else the program would have to be carefully monitored to make sure the large landowners don't crowd out the 5 or 10 acre people who might have similar energy requirements.

I think if this were implemented, not only would it reduce or eliminate energy costs for my home, it would free up existing infrastructure for the urban areas and export to Mexico or Canada and beyond.

EDIT: Also, I think the President made the right decision on Libya, as help was requested from the West by the common people who had no one else to turn to against their own government. I'd like to see Obama do more good in that area, but he has already done more than most and I totally understand that the farther he sticks his neck out the more likely it is to be on the chopping block. So far, Obama hasn't done much to piss me off, and after Bush, (as terrible as it sounds) he still seems better than a lot of other prospects.

The major exception would be the Protect IP Act

EDIT2: Also, even if you are mad at Obama for helping with Libya, you should look at this thread I'm about to link and read the OP. Remember how it was France and Great Britain who first announced support for the Libyan rebels? Guess who controls France and GB? Currently Conservative parties are in power in both France and Britain (as well as Canada and Mexico and 10 wars between us but shrug).
