20th june 1072

Walker (casting good luck) - 27
Golem & Soldiers (gathering wood) - 44 (+3) 47
Peasants (training into gatherers via clay quarry) - 82
Crafters (building sawmill) - 31 (+3) 34
Crafters (building farms) - 25
Gatherers (tend farms) - 43
Scouts (explore between clay pits and campsite) - 95 (+3) 98
Crafters (Irrigation) -71

Finally the peasants take to their training 25 of the 34 peasants took up the training and only 2 didn’t make it, progress in the quarry went well, though in the summer heat a few cracks were noticed in the wood timbers, speaking of wood the harvesting went well and a sawmill was built near the camp, due to delays it took a bit longer than thought but it’s just starting operation so all’s good. The scouts filled in a large portion of the map and also discovered a lake with potential for fishing, building the farms didn’t go well either the land was too parched to be ploughed this month because of an early dry spell. The lake however screamed potential for farms and through fast human ingenuity the crafters managed to create a single farm with irrigation and space for more.

Navek ponders whether anybody could be trained in basic magic, inferior to the walkers but still a help, he then thinks about other things, a scrying pool perhaps, maybe in the distant future a portal, who knows what could be made.

Lets see, I think that we should have navek cast good luck with twelve clay, we should have our builders make more farms over by the lake, where we can irrigate them, we should have 16 of our gatherers work the farms, 17 of our gatherers should take the golem down to the clay pits, while the remaining 10 go to the forest and cut wood. The soldiers should go hunting.

20th July 1072

Navek (Casting good luck) - 45
Soldiers (Hunt) - 77
Peasants (Forage) - 59
Crafters (Build Farms) - 56 (+5)
Gatherers (Tend farms) - 64 (+5)
Gatherers & Golem (Gather Clay) - 53 (+5) 58
Scouts (Explore) - 76 (+5) 81
Additional Event - 43

Navek, deciding he would like to cast more powerful magic leads his golem to the quarry with a retinue of gatherers where they have moderate success.

Actually it appears everything went quite well really there was a good hunt, a bountiful harvest, and good progress made exploring, one of the scouts even found the smouldering remains of a fire near the stone deposits, a sign of sentient life, the scouts searched the area but didn’t find anything more.

4 farms are built and linked to the irrigation system though doing so leaves the wood supply very low.

The cracks in the quarry are beginning to get worse, some of the gatherers they say it’ll fall apart as soon as there’s an additional event roll below 25 if it’s not supported by stone soon - whatever that means.

I forgot to mention wherever the walker goes so does the golem and vice versa which is why this time the good luck spell affected the people closest to the clay pits.
Also you seem to have a few to many crafters so I'm giving you the optional event in which Navek decides their work is shoddy and takes away the crafter status from them meaning you can retrain them, you can also decide how many crafters he demotes to peasants.
Also adding anvil to change log - check it out  :D

I think Navek should order 15 crafters into peasants, because there aren't any structures that need 15 time units to do (you can do more than one at a time) and bieng crafters they get a %50 bonus anyway, you could always use the other to help, try and turn them into gatherers, make the scouts check out the fire some more, look for tracks and stuff, then you should have the crafters build a quarry at the stone place and re-enforce the other

actually I'll make a list again
Navek - strengthern golem
Golem - hunt
10 gatherers - farm iragated bit
11 peasants & soldiers - chop wood
15 peasants - train to be gatherers by fishing
8 crafters - build qaurry
2 crafters - fix caly pit
5 crafters - disasemble parched farms
scouts - look for intelligent life
33 gatherers - get clay

Also could navek enchant clay so other people can use the clay for their own spells? and can you let navek cast more spells per turn?

What? Why do you want navek to cast strengthen golem? thats not a permanent spell.
and crafters into peasants? why? thats a downgrade.

My suggestion-
navek - cast greater good luck.
peasants - train to be gatherers.
crafters - fix clay pit, and start work on a quarry over where rock and minerals are. Anyone remaining build more farms by lake.
golem - help out whoever you can, if you have the time.
gatherers - as many as can work on farms, do so. the rest, half gather wood, half hunt, since they can't use clay pit this turn.
scouts - investigate the area around that fire and the minerals near it.
soldiers - go hunting.

Another mini update
7th August 1972

Rolls
Walker (create rune spell) - 9
Walker (level up) - 53
Golem (level up) - 97

Stepping into his tent Navek notices a large group of crafters sitting around a fire warming their hands, dammit he thought, for months the group had barely contributed to the colony. Well that was about to change! Shouting at the crafters he demands what they’ve been doing for the past few months rather meekly they reply not enough work is available to them, blasphemy thought Navek - stripping them of their title as crafters he tells each of them to find some other way to help and vigorously continues into his tent in a huff.
If only they could be made to work harder or if he could give them some of his ability, and then it strikes him, a rune! If he were to enchant clay so it may be used again then imagine the possibilities, easy to carry rations, soldiers could protect themselves with fireballs, entering meditation he grabs 10 clay and gets to work trying to create a fireball rune.
When the preparations are done he attempts to move energy into the clay and lets out a gasp as he feels a sudden heat in his gut, quickly cutting the tie to the clay the golem shrieks, to save Navek he absorbed the fire himself, shocked from the ordeal the two go to sleep

Okies bear in mind despite the fact Navek successfully created a fire rune at the moment it’s very dangerous to create and use, also it uses 10 times as much clay as a normal fireball.
In other news I’m adding a bunch of stuff to the change log suggested by squiggles and also the ability for Navek to meditate with a bit more flexibility rather than these random mini updates.
And again the update should be tommrow
Hmm... only just read angles suggestion as I was posting this I'll probably do angles stuff tommrow except for making the downgraded peasants into gatherers which sounds fair to me... unless of course some more people have ideas  :D

5th September 1072

Navek (Casting greater good luck) - 76
Golem (Help Whoever) - 25 (+11) 36
Peasants (Training to be gatherers via fishing) - 47 (+11) 58
3 Crafters (Fix Clay Pit) - 63 (+11) 74
7 Crafters (Build Stone Quarry) - 60 (+11) 71
5 Crafters (Build Farms) - 87 (+11) 98
24 Gatherers (Tend Farms) - 51 (+11) 62
10 Gatherers (Gather Wood) - 30 (+11) 41
9 Gatherers (Hunt) - 1 (+11) 12
Soldiers (Hunt) - 12 (+11) 23
9 Scouts (Investigate Fire) - 94 (+11) 105
6 Scouts (Prospect for Minerals) - 6 (+11) 17
Additional Event - 97 (+11) 108

Navek deciding after the ordeal with the fire rune to stop anymore incidents to cast greater good luck though unfortunately doesn’t have enough clay making do with what he has though he casts the spell nether less and requires the golem’s help for it, whilst not as powerful it still covers the entire area.

The peasants learning the trade of the gatherers fish by the lake, 18 of the 26 make it, one of them also suggests building some fishing boats, if the lake doesn’t freeze over in the winter fish would be a good resource when the farms are inactive.

Constructing the stone quarry went well, a few scouts also helped out whilst they looked for ores though the only ore stumbled on was so poor that nothing could be extracted from it, what they extracted  for the shaft helped to repair the clay pit and made part of the structure, there was even a small amount left over.

Farming and gathering wood went smoothly with no major events, though the hunting was terrible. To make it worse a small group of gatherers was attacked by some kind of giant ant, fortunately they only sustained minor injuries, without Navek’s good luck spell the scenario may have been much worse.

As for the scouts well here’s what happened:

After finding a fire a month earlier Rikkeh and some of his scouts were sent to find whoever made it, it wouldn’t surprise him if it was some of the others in the colony but dutifully Rikkeh scoured the land for tracks as instructed, they’d been covered quite well though so maybe Navek was right and there is intelligent civilization nearby.

After two solid weeks of searching they finally stumble upon 4 sets of tracks, 3 small ones - possibly human or something a bit smaller - and a much larger one with traces of clay at the bottom, it can’t have been Navek and his golem though; they’ve not been this far east. Weariness creeps in several hours later and with no luck Rikkeh takes another hopeful glance around, to his great surprise a large gnome can be seen just a few feet away looking into his eyes, reflexively blinking, he notices a small portal, followed by two lithe humans and a golem.

“Yup, that looks like the one’s we were sent to find” announced the gnome.
“Huh, sent to find, what are you on about” replied one of the scouts, they’re all looking in bewilderment at the stubby gnome.
“Well what do you think? King gets wind of some un-authorised human activity in the area, I get sent over to do the work, now who’s in charge around here?”

Mini-mini update :D
9th September 1072

A few days after finding the walker the scouts arrive home with the gnome when he meets Navek a fierce discussion takes place, Navek being dis-orientated, then he starts to ask questions.

“What are you doing here, who sent you? Can you help?”

The gnome feeling a bit harassed starts shouting
“alright just shu’ up sit down and lemmee do the talkin’ - see it like this, some fancy fireball shooting guy up top see’s abou’ 100 men coming through this portal thin’ an’ I’s a get sent an’ see’s what all the fuss is abou’. Then I gotta help u guys out if yer in trouble which looks pretty much ‘ow it is an’ sen’ some messages back, see’s the king reckon you’s all refugees an’ wants to make yer a remote colony to be gettin’ him all that stuff he needs for the fightin’ the big ol’ orcs.

Bu’ anyways spent three blasted months lookin’ for you peoples an’ I can’t really remember the way home either but I reckon if ye try an’ get somebody roun’ ‘ere too build a portal ya can get some stuff back an’ forth.

An’ you’s be needing more here, I mean this place isn’t even a colony yet, jus’ a bunch o’ tents really, if you’s want to be impressing the king get a portal by the end of the year, get some ‘lil workshops, work out a way to make clothes an’ tools you’ll hav’ to get suggestions on ‘ow to do it an’ these flimsy tents get rid of ‘em you be wanting some proper buildings here, common get your lazies doin’ something! Da king migh’ be sending some helpers over if you do! Oh yeah an’ so you know my name is <suggest a name here>" :D

You do realize by asking him something your basically asking me about what's happening and getting an information update right? I can't tell you what you should do next... ::)
work it out for yourself  :P and brie does sound pretty decent... If there's nothing much more anyone wants to ask him then the ext update will be a full one.

Well then ask about:
Quote
all that stuff he needs for the fightin’ the big ol’ orcs.
Are they the same orcs which attacked you?
What does he need exactly?

Also you need a better walker for making a permant portal so try and get his help to teleport both walkers and golems (naveks golem can protect him if something goes wrong and not look suspicious) to the capital and try to communicate with the king
