after 4 or 5 adventurers, i noticed that there are indeed bogeymen in this world... and one hit was enough to kill poor peasant girl. wonder why they havent showed up on previous adventurers, that one guy even wandered in glacier for 4 whole nights... Perhaps, bogeys dont like cold.

Theres a secret to it. My 1st try adventurer mawning off wildlife was a result of unaimed melee attacks. Unaimed gives you best possible hit on the turn, hitrate and damage wise, even if that hit wouldnt show up as such. I was ripping off legs of anything, with dabbling biter and never used throwing (used it once, threw donkey liver and broke guys hand! all on dabbling).

PRO TIP: Abandoned fortresses is a gold mine. You can rest there, and spwn unlimited wildlife. When out of stuff to train on, just fast travel around the fortress, and everything will respawn (including wolves).

I tried this thing too. Unmoded game, most recent version.

Created retarded Dwarfgirl, below averange str, and low toughness. (Novice Dodger, Adequate Shield user << has no shields, yet)

Proceded to nearest forsaken fortress.

Dont know what you people were saying about ducks and badgers, but she ripped apart EVERYTHING. Dispatched 4 wolf packs and cought a bleeding only once.

As for now she has 52 kills - all wildlife. Skills arent high yet, but i think i will risk taking a name now.

Well using the unmodded game and a dagger I was able to kill a buck rabbit. The thing is it took me several minutes to actually catch it. Well even that isn't true... I didn't catch the one I was looking for, but one that happened to randomly be next to a tree behind which I could sneak. The animal I follow will NEVER stop near a tree. Or sometimes stop near a tree for a couple of my turns, then make like 3-4 steps so I can't catch them anymore because they're faster and I can't sneak near them without being spotted. And the things that run to me (predators) will also kill me without even trying... So I really don't know... I would like to play a dwarf but if they're slower because of their height I might try an human. I don't like elves so I won't ever be an elf adventurer.

I'm going to try this (and most likely get killed by a hippo).

But one question - What should the world settings be?
Can I put the savagery really low? (I don't usually - Not dorfy enough.)

Just wondering.

Aur Natupuranta Nord Peasant, went into the wilds to hunt and was badly mauled by a badger. He beat the badger with a stone and managed to remain conscious just a little bit longer than the beast, he struck the death blow with the last ounce of his strength and lay wounded for many hours. When he rose he gathered stones and meticulously fashioned a simple knife, a simple axe, and a simple needle before gathering plants to work into thread. He fashioned himself a backpack from the beasts hide and a spear from it's bones. He returned to the village to profit from his kill, and while there the shop keeper told him of a demon outlaw forcing the citizens to live in fear. He picked up his spear and his hand axe and went forth to find allies to join in his great quest to fight the demon and free the the town. Then a snake bit him walking out of the shop , he stumbled a few feet and then died.

Shaggy dog story if there ever was.

Cool story, but  you almost broke a rule. You almost broke the rule of recruiting, you have to have some kind of notable kill to recruit other people. Unless you had low social awarness, but I think the snake was karma incarnate.

I wasn't actually running off to recruit right away I sort of put a pin in that quest. After getting my ass kicked by a badger I was going to go looking for something less suicidal than "Fight demonic murder-squad with sharp stick."

I did this without noticing.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

My character was a human swordsman and i started at an island, my hometown was at the southern part and i traveled to the capital at north without recruiting anyone. i slept at hamlets and killed a few cheetahs on my way. When i got to the capital i bought some copper/bronze armor and decided to train my character at the desert by fighting giant desert scorpions, also there are no bogeyman in the deserts so i thought i'd be safe.

on my way to the desert i came across a shire. i went in silently, there were skeletons scattered around and finally i found a fire breathing one-eyed giraffe with four horns. i fought it and won without losing any limbs, apparently he wasn't that tough. i guess i was lucky.

i butchered the titan and bought better armor. then i went to the law-giver and asked for a quest. he told me to kill a cyclops, i wasn't expecting to win when i got to his lair actually, i guess the fight with the titan trained my character. when it passed out i stabbed his eye but the damn thing just wouldn't die, i stabbed his head like hundreds of times to kill it.

after that, i killed a giantess, two giants, another cyclops and an ettin. i also killed all the bandits in the island. i am a pretty badass swordsmaster now.

but i'm stuck at the island. there's nothing left to do and i can't leave. i hope we get boats and ships soon.

Mafol Daggermine the Insightful Exaltation of Prank's
Steel dwarf. Yea its cheap but you need every advantage you can get in this challenge.
Stats.
Below average social awareness
low agility

skills.
Adequate shield user
novice armor user.

Day 1:   equipment: Backpack.

I found my self in a village. Made clothes and a wooden hunting spear. Took most of the day. I slept ina  peasants house and set out for the nearest bandit camp at dawn.

Day 2: Cloth clothes and wooden hunting spear.

Made it to the bandit camp by noon. Was immediately greeted by the bandit leader who was alone. I stabbed him for along time till he passed out and I wrestled his copper war hammer away and finished him with a blow to the head. Headed toward the camp and the next dusk elf bandit rushed me. I smashed his right foot then his head. He had a steel saber and bronze shield. On my escape a moon arrow to back of the left lower leg severed a sensory nerve but I am still combat ready. I made it back to camp a few hours before sun down so I shared my tale of defeating the bandit over some drink at the inn. Afterward as I was leaving to go to my room one of the elves approached me and wanted to come with me on my adventures, I gladly accepted.

Bandit Leader: Uya Actbasement the dusk elf.
Peasant: Alona handledined the bewildering glitter of ???  dusk elf

Day 3: Leather cloaks, steel saber, bronze shield. A pair of steel elven boots.

At dawn we set out for the reported bandit camp half a days travel to the west. Once there me and my dusk elf pesent quickly dispatched of the bandits. We traveled through the night to the merchant city to buy some gear with out newly acquired loot.

Day 4.

Just after dawn we arrived at the merchant city. I traded my loot for some steel elven boots and a Superior quality steel elven chain leggings. After spinning some tales of my latest conquest of the bandit leader with out a scratch another peasant joined my party. Being very tired from my journey to the town we slept the rest of the day. We set out for the nearest fort at night fall.

Peasant: Vuthefi jestedsounds. Dusk elf

Day 5

We made it to the fort an hour after day break. Here our party convinced a down trodden maceman dusk elf that he could do great good else ware in the world and he joined the party. While leaving the fort the maceman told the party of a bandit camp that the lord didnt consider a threat that he wanted to destroy so we set off for it. We made it within a few hours travel and set up camp for the night.

Solider: Atisowe Tiledpear dusk elf maceman

Day 6.
Woke at dawn and headed for the bandit camp. While heading into the camp an archer was hidden behind a tree. When I stepped into his field of view he shot an arrow that hit me in the side of the upper body piercing both my lungs. The screen says mortal wound and I get winded a lot but I am still alive after killing 4 bandits with my party. I managed to stumble away from the fight and passed out for 12 hours. When I woke my allies had tended my wounds and the only thing to show for it was a bruised lung. I headed back to the camp because the maceman was not with us when I awoke. When I got the camp I found him and the bandit commander locked in a death struggle on the ground. Me and the peasants quickly dispatched of the remaining bandits and looted the camp. Among the loot was a steel elven chain mail and the best treasure of all. A pitchblende earring with decorations of grass and pipe sections. I immediately dawned this epic treasure. The mace man was beat up pretty bad but still had his armor and weapons along with his shield. He was also still able to walk and hold things. We slowly headed back to town and set up camp at nightfall.

Day 7.

Awoke at dawn. Checked everyone's wounds and changed wound dressings before setting out for town. By the time we made it to the merchant town everyone had recovered from the fight. In the market I found a finely crafted pair of steel elven gauntlets that menaced with spiked of resin opal I just had to have and trade all the extra loot we had for them. We spent the rest of the day spreading tails of our success among the villagers and tracking down leads on possible jobs that needed doing.

Day 8.

Set out at dawn to the north following a lead that two bandit leaders had made an alliance and built a base of operations along one of their more profitable trade routes between them and the Orcs. Even worse this trade route is mainly weapons and armor so the bandits are likely to be heavily armed. Just past noon we stopped at the orc lords fort to let our presence be know as well as pay our respects. We traveled till mid night then made camp.

Day 9.

Slept till just before noon. Spent the few hours before noon scouting the camps. The leaders had set up a camp on either side of the road to flank caravans coming through. We decided it would be best to attack the camps separately and hope the other camp doesn’t hear the noise of battle. At noon when they were having lunch we attacked. The leader was the first to greet us with a mighty roar. He charged out ahead of the rest of the bandits. I was fencing with him when the maceman came up behind him and smashed his spine rendering him unconscious. We quickly finished him off. We dispatched the rest of the bandits without anyone getting anything more than a bruise. All the bandits at this camp were dusk elves. With one camp down and a new steel saber tucked safely in my belt we gathered ourselves for the raid on the other camp just over the hill and across the road. We raided the next camp and a group of orc charged out in a line toward us, it was clear they were better trained and more organized than the dusk elves were. Once we closed to engage we could tell they also had much better weapons than the dusk elves did. An orc axeman attacked me and I got a lucky counter attack stabbing him in the eye and tearing out his brain. I had become quite skilled by now(literally at skilled) with the sword. The orc commander and leader of the whole operation hung back till all his men were dead before charging in to engage us. We killed me but not before he mangled the maceman Atisowe Tiledpear's, who during this fight had gained the title The glacial tear, left lower leg. We spent the night at the camp to tend his wounds figuring no one would be foolish enough to approach a bandit camp. The leader had a black steel battle axe.

Day 10.
Skills:
Expert Fighter
Skilled swordsdwarf
Skilled shield user
Adequate armor user
Adequate thrower
Adequate Archer
Adequate Knapper

Stats:Still the same no gains.

By morning Atisowe was feeling well enough to walk and we set off for the orc town to restock and spread the news of our conquest. We were starting to become fairly well know for our deeds, merchants would bring tales of our deeds to other cities as well as a few bards that were inspired by our acts. The orcs were particularly enthusiastic about tactics and battle prowess we showed in dispatching the bandit camps. While at the inn enjoying the fruits of our labor an messenger arrived with an urgent message from a far off land. The lord was requesting our help in dealing with as the letter put it “ A power that threatens us all!.” The message also came with gold to fund the journey. We bought the needed provisions for the long trip and set off. We traveled till nightfall and set up camp.

Day 11

In the middle of the night the remaining bandits from earlier had caught up with us and an ambushed us in out sleep. The smashed both my hands as well as beating me up pretty good. I dropped my steel saber and my bronze shield. My allies were already completely surrounded and when I saw an opening I ran for it. Some gave chase but eventually I managed to duck behind a tree and stealth down a valley to escape. Once I was sure I was safe I wrapped my hands with cloth strips from my clothing. My ability to grasp was some what impaired but still usable. I pulled out the black steel battle axe. On my way into town I was ambushed by boogie men and fought them till almost dawn before I managed to kill them all off. I made it to the village I had started my journey in. I rented a room and slept till noon. When I awoke and went down to the bar portion of the inn there were 3 dusk elves eager to join me on my journey. Because the rest of my group was MIA I let them tag along. I set off for the lords keep and made it just after nightfall.

Peasants:
Alati Pottrick dusk elf gem cutter
Virfa Kingdomlove dusk elf
Ecamema Sensesage Dusk elf hunter.

Day 12
Soilder: Unaraye obscureembrace dusk elf swordsman.

I slept in the keep till just after dawn. The lord told us what the trouble was over breakfast. The gloom crone Jiaojian Tombsgraves had been terrorizing the surrounding villages and killed all who were sent to dispatch her. The lord gave me his finest swordsman to accompany me. En-route to the gloom crones lair we were ambushed by a large group of beak wolves. Luckily at the same time a pack of giant eagles were praying on the beak wolves and helped us dispatch them without any trouble. We set up camp just outside ezrakim elf territory. We were attacked by brook trolls in the night and the hunter was stomped to death.

Day 13.

We visited the ezrakim sultan to let him know we were passing through the area to kill the gloom crone. We also stopped by the large merchant city. Here I bought a Finely crafted sun gold sickle sword. Between cities we were set upon by a pack of wild badgers who mauled the swordsman to death. Traveled till night fall and slept till dawn.

Day 14.

Traveled till nightfall and slept till dawn.

Day 15.

Reached the gloom crones lair a few hours after dawn. We dispatched of her and her children easily enough but found no good loot. Spent the rest of the day traveling.

Day 16.

Traveled all night and all day and arrived at the sultans fort in the afternoon. Slept till dawn.

Day 17
Soldier: Pen Poemcrypt ezramkim swordsman.
The sultan was happy to hear we had killed the gloom crones and offered us a solider to escort us back to the Dusk elf lord. Traveled trough the night.

Day 18.

At noon we were attacked my black bears. One latched on my right leg and shook me till I bleed to death. And thus ends Mafol daggermine.

Overall this is one of the most fun adventure mode play troughs i have ever had.
