Zynga it is evil
« on: June 18, 2011, 07:30:23 pm »

I think Zynga (you know on facebook) is run by goblins who want to take all your money. Have not played in months, I only show on on facebook a couple of time a year. Mostly as the games have put me right off.

Some of the game changes make it easier to play but the constant having to buy stuff to advance faster or to advance at all. its evil money grabbing. Too much adverts. one was only $100 for some crap game money. 100! total waste of cash. I dont know how somepeople are in L100 without wasting a load of cash or cheating.

Yes its a bit ranty, but who here admits to wasting too much time on this infernal games from the glowing pits.

I can not imagine how voluntary trade could be considered evil money grabbing.

Um wow. Zynga it is not evil. They, like everyone else in the entire world, only wish to make money.

The closest thing to evil is their constant theft of other games. Not just borrowing ideas, they straight up copy every element of smaller games.

Example:
Slashkey's Farm Town (April 2009)

Zynga's Farmville (June 2009):

Personally, I remember when they're sole product was malware and pop-ups. This was several years ago when I would frequently would be watching anime online, and I kept running into their stupid adds and people talking about "don't download zynga! It's spyware!" this was before farmville and all those other facebook games.

Haha wow actually I remember that too. Along with a lot of other malware with silly names.

This is a lie. For one, there are plenty of people in the world that don't only want to make money. Beyond that, methods matter. The bank robber and the automobile machinist both want to make money, but one is definitely "the bad guy".

Zynga and its employees are about on par with drug kingpins and casino operators, in my opinion. Maybe not evil, but definitely skeevy as hell, and we'd probably be better of without their like.

That being said, this is a really weird and random thread.

I had a comment about how Zynga is a company and not a individual, but then I realized they probably steal the games they make anyway.

Although really, who does not want money in some form?

Maybe like a monk. Who is that monk guy, can he tell us if he uses money?

There are many kinds of evil in this world... Not JUST a "For EVIL!" or "Murderous intent" or "Evil intent"

A wonton disregard for others is also a form of evil.

If I ripped people off to make money... that would be something evil.

Since that is ALL Zynga does... and Zynga isn't a person with dynamics... That would make Zynga EVIL!

Companies are collections of people, run by people, and people make all the decisions the company "makes". So... really, its just like describing any other group that has some centrally controlled leadership, you know.

Plus for as long as they are "Legally" people... We should treat them as such. EVIL EVIL Zynga.

Contrary to popular belief, Zynga is not run by a man named Zynga.

Googling from this thread, I was reminded of some evil they did do: particularly their links to some of the dirtier sides of OfferPay and similar services, which they knew installed spyware on users computers in exchange for stupid game shit.

Really? That’s all they do? All of it?

Cause I seem to remember them having video games at some point.

Okay, if you want to do this fine. Show me how they are like a drug kingpin?

Because it is so obvious how they use violence and other illegal means to ruin peoples lives for profit.

As for casino operators… Ah yeah. They are like it. But how the hell is ether ‘skeevy'

Edit: if Tilla is right, then they are in fact evil. But you will notice the reasons he gave and the reasons you three have given (or as of yet failed to give) are not the same.

From the view of a game dev, they are some what evil.
They are using skinner box methods as much as they can, as to make you keep playing without ever entertaining you, but they are also using your friends and family as their primary advertising method. Nothing about their games are good, just addicting. Some what like cigarettes.
