The next update will probably be the last one. We have more troops than all other factions combined. Aside from Monk's "army", they are all competent. (I've assembled Monk army on the run, buying random mercs. If only we had a group of hoplites, it would be winnable.)
Julii have the most troops, nearly 1/3 of our forces. Then there are Germans with a few stacks, Britain with a few, Scipii have 2, but They'll die in a few turns. Dacia have what They used against Monk. (0,8 of a stack)

Spain, Gaul and Carthage are insignificant. Once Rome falls, i won't even bother. Epilogue is upon us.

I mean honestly.. we have 13 armies (full stacks) on the fronts, and 2 more on the way.. another 2 ready to be shipped in Egypt and Jerusalem, and 2 more as garrisons. + tons of 5-unit garrisons in each city. It's over. In the next update.

I imagine playing as Spain won't be this easy. :P Also do you plan on using quite a lot of spanish mercs, since i've found them decently useful and numerous in the past. Well for early- early mid game anyways. I'm also going to guess it's going to be: Secure the Iberian Peninsula, go for Rome.

Yes. Mercenary Scutarii are decent, and i will be using them. I'll also scour the world for merc hoplites. I will need them.

Secure the Iberian Peninsula...

Yes.

go for Rome.

No. We want an effin nightmare of a campaign. No Numidia-like Blitz. I'm not going to rush Rome ( i will rush Gaul probably ), i will add them some pop in turn 1, in case we repeat Armenian quickness, and aside from VH/VH (yes.) i'll toss in some limitations on myself.
It's going to be hell, but we like hell.

Also ; i find it strange that nobody did a Nelson laugh at my Dacian fail  :P
(after replaying it for a few times, i just can not figure out a way to kill these chosen swordsman with my army. The best i got was 1100 deaths on Dacian side, with our 2000)

GO FOR ARMENIA!

It is likely that for the first X years i'll be bunkered up and sieged by the entire Julii and Gaul roster. Hell, i bet two stones, that They will actually make an alliance... (on VH the AI hates you)

In our current game, Germans and Julii declared an alliance, the second i attacked them Germans. Egypt allied with Seleucid (remember that?) Greeks with Pontus... The AI throws logs under our feet all the time.
4"Flowers" diplomat tried to disband 3 hastati groups, and they wanted 65000 denari.

I know, hence the :P But still, even though you're mostly using cavalry, you're still pretty good but we'll see wether you are as good as I imagine when you start the Spanish campaign :)

General cavalry are amazing, especially if you have a full influence general with a 100 of the general cav. And if this general becomes experienced then you can crush entire armies on your own! I mean just look at Dick mountainjoy!

Yes. But there are exceptions.

To compare Armenian General Cav (Armored Eastern) or Marian Roman General (Armored Roman)
With.. Say... Spanish (what a coincidence!)

Is like comparing Spartans with Peasants.

Thankfully Spanish general is still better than Thracian, Scythian, and.. that's it.  ???

There are generals, which can not fight 1v1 against other heavy cavalry. And by can not fight, i mean they would get massacred. And by they would get massacred, i mean you'll see in the next LP.

It appears that i've taken a grand total of 32 screenshots for the entire next session (the number should've been five times higher..)
I am not sure if it was caused by missing Prt Scrn or some Fraps error..

What it means is : The next (last) update will be nearly screen-less.

For those of you, maniacs, who want to see progress, i offer these two screenshots below. First one you should know, as it was the last one in update 16.

The second one is state of the world 10 turns later, 228 BC, summer. I didn't bother playing further than that.

With this being said, i'm not entire sure how to do the epilogue, so it may take a while.

Regards.

Edit : Actually.. If you're reading this, please post at what point it was obvious that we're going to win. Be it your guts telling you that, a coin toss or the effects of cocaine overdose.
I tried concealing our overall progress, but you viewers are sneaky and tend to know far too much.

Ahah, the invicible Briton hold you!

I knew we were going to win once I saw you routing armies after armies of troops. The same I know we're going to win with Spain.

It was obvious the fun was over once you curb-stomped Seulcia, Egypt and Pontus in one update. After that it was mostly the boring job of cleaning up the rest of the world... With cool battles.

Tends to be a problem with R:TW that once you get through the early game (when you're the same size as everyone else) the rest of the game quickly becomes trivial, since no AI opponent can be as successful as the player. Once you had the Middle East under your thumb you had more money and manpower than any other reasonable threat.

One of the cool things I like about playing as Rome is that once you reach this point, you start the Roman Civil war. If only the other Roman factions were ever successful enough to pose a credible challenge.

This is why I purposely wait and/or give the other roman factions land to make them equal to me.

Actually, although we're still on Armenia, if I may make a suggestion for the Spanish campaign...

10,000 pop to all Roman cities on the first turn, process_cq everything for the first ten turns then give them another 5,000 to all Roman cities.

I tried playing that on H/H on my latest Selucids game and I had found it to a rather fun and challenging game; I actually had someone to care about once I was done wiping out Egypt and the Middle East.

Actually we're done with Armenia, there will be only 1 more update, ze epilogue.

What you suggest is a good idea, but i don't think doing it on turn 1 would make us survive for very long. Keep in mind that Julii are going for us from turn 0, Scipii will join them once we even look at the African coast or any islands in Mediterran.. And Spain doesn't have armored elephants  :o

We are NOT rushing Rome, like we did with Numidia.

We MAY win with Marian Roman armies with a bull warrior + fanatics + mercs army (maybe), but we start with town watch, slingers and iberian infantry. It's trash.

Still.. if majority of viewers tells me to use what you suggested on turn 1.. i will.  :P

(btw. Who has voted for Gaul? I will name a general after you, for not breaking my balls!)
