I loved the part where the mercenaries killed nobody but lost 49 people.
They killed 11 people.
Also, why am I insane?

That's still pretty bad.

They're the cheapest mercs, there are 240 of them, and they have worse stats than peasants. I've pointed out on every occasion that their only purpose is to take casualties.
Our valuable troops lost 3 guys total, 2 of which didn't die but were only wounded.. leaving 1.

How is it bad? :o

Oh, well I'm not a R:TW expert so I wouldn't know much about the mercs, if I had known they were worse than peasants then I would've understood.

A general rule is anything with equal or more numbers than peasants are only useful as fodder.
Also, when do we get to see the traits of our current generals?

To compare the mercenaries we've lost and the general they were fighting (we've slain)

I am Eater of Walls...some call me the Anti-Christ of Wallogen, god of walls! If walls weren't supposed to be eaten, they shouldn't have made them farm-able!

Our general is to die gloriously (a narrow voting victory 13 for glory, 11 for prostitutes, 11 for leading army) however, the closest army that can potentially kill him belongs to Egypt - which we are not to attack till Pontus is down, or until they strike us. Dick is 71 years old though, in RTW people REALLY do not live that long.

Thus : I will have him fight that army alone, and pull back all my forces, asking Egypt for ceasefire.
It is otiose, as Egypt will declare war on us as soon as they capture Bostra (a rebel city, west of Dumatha) so in a few turns at best. Unless they have serious trouble with Seleucid and Numidia.

The army that he's going to tackle will field 1500 troops, including numerous phalanx spearmen
If i took a second unit to aid the general (maneuvering) we would win a crushing victory.. But how does one outmaneuver an army on his own? How many enemies will Dick Mountainjoy take down with him?
..And where the hell are the 2500 Pontic soldiers?!

Stay tuned for das update!

Honestly, I'd say give him a fighting chance, but make sure he's always the first cavalry unit in when fighting. Eventually, he'll either be a 100-year-old executioner who's personally slaughtered thousands of non-rock eaters, or he'll catch a lucky flying piece of wood to the neck.

He'd die any second now. There is no time to attack any armies that are further away.
And - once again - if i used a second unit with him, it would be a crushing victory, because he could easily.. well.. watch the update that is to come.. I'm writing it as you read it (edited.)

Hmm, if your general is versing largely eastern infantry, hillmen and maybe skirmishers I can see him beating 1500 men. However if there's chariots and phalanx pikemen.

Also I assume you were referring to the eastern infantry mercenaries? Their only use is they're better with autobattles than peasants.  They can be useful with swarm tactics, but you'll lose tonnes.

So we're at war with Greeks now? Luckily, phalanxes can't maneuver and are arrow fodder for ranged cavalry.

But why on Earth did you put precious stones in a wall? We'll need them to feed our children!
