Actually, blood for the blood god originated in warhammer FANTASY. 40k was a parody.

I had an above ground garden built in the grounds of my castle and two young dwarves spent time socialising there over the summer and at the end of the summer they were in love. Remember those long summers of your childhood? That first kiss in the gardens while crossbows dwarves shoot goblins above your head? The rain of dead birds as the hunters get to work? Truly Spearhills is a paradise.

Armok is from the first game in the series that was trying to be something like current DF adventure mode.  It had 3D graphics but the project was apperantly bogged down by said graphics (likely one reason why  DF currently has minimal graphics).

In Slaves to Armok God of Blood you were Armok, creating world after world and then entering the body of an inhabitant to cause shenanigans.  Magic was implemented but it included very interesting spells, such as a teleport spell that could target individual tissues or organs and the ability to use any part of your body as feet or weapons.  Perfectly possible to have a dragon who walks on it's head. Fun to play around in once or twice, just to see more insight into the history of DF through it's predecessor.

Armok in DF is missing.  I myself figure just like in Slaves to Armok 1, you are Armok, possessing adventurers, or groups of alcohol sponges.  Though it isn't stated anywhere other than legends mode where it only implies that folks you controlled were controlled by unknown forces, so other theories are perfectly valid.

I do believe that Toady mentioned that Armok is nothing more than an old holdover nowadays.  Though judging from Threetoe's latest story there might be plans for him in the future.  And yes, Armok got his name from the ARM_OK variable.

I honestly always imagine Armok to look like this:

And seriously, Armok needs to be added to the game! I don't care if he was a joking reference to mechanics, he should be official now. The way I imagine it is that Dwarves worship their various gods with random and often ridiculous spheres, but Armok is the chief deity of all of Dwarfkind.

EDIT: Oh yeah, "Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!" isn't a creation of DF, it's the battle cry of the followers of Khorne in W40k.

Blood for the blood god! Skulls for the skull throne! Let the galaxy lightly bake until golden brown!!!

Who would win, Khorne or Armok?
Or I guess the fight should be between followers of each, so Dorfs vs. Berserkers (not sure if it should be Fantasy or 40k).

This idea is actually like this idea for a fanfiction I had (although I would never write it since A. I'm a bad writer, B. I don't even LIKE writing, C. even if I did I'm not the fanfiction writing type, and D.I'm so lazy that even without points A, B and C I'd just never get around so it. Also the idea is really stupid and clichés, but that's okay/inevitable since I spontaneously daydreamed this up a few months ago, and I would probably ignore any canon that got in the way.).
Spoilered since I am UTTERLY INCAPABLE of describing stuff like this without it being insanely long. No hard feelings if this is TL;DR

How can you tell? Maybe its Adventureception. An adventurer within adventurer within adventurer.

We need to go deeper. The fourth level of adventurer will be so full of adventures you'll stay trapped there forever.

How do you know that you are not Armok controlling an individual, and that individual is a "slave to armok"?

@detonate And exactly how is that preventing from Armok being in dwarf fortress lore? Sure it may be a play off of arm_ok but that doesnt mean Armok isnt real in dwarf fortress. and blood for the blood god would make sense because armok is god of blood. Now would you stop being a killjoy?
guess It depends on how you think but in adventure mode I think I'am the adventurer not someone else manipulating him

If you've ever read the legends report of one of your adventurers, it says something like "Although it is not known for certain, it is universally agreed
that s/he was manipulated by forces unknown."

I think that depends on your class doesn't it? You get "it's universally agreed that he/she was of divine parenthood" from being a demigod.
