Eh Max has his dagger for sneaky stuff and his club for straight up melee. I don't see why he would need a shortsword.

I don't even want to know WHY you want to know that.

Looks like that loot marked map is our next stop. Make sure that we get enough supplies and equipment for our ship and crew. And it looks like we finally have a melee specialist in our group. Awesome.

You consider a couple names for the ship, deciding to call it “Wind Dancer.”

You ask Johnny if he can fill in any of the blanks on the sea map, his response being that he doesn't know any of the names by heart. He says he will go into town later and ask around for anyone who can fill the map.

You get a measurement of the Kobolds, and spend some money to buy them leather armor and steel daggers. (-3 Silver)

Max says that there are several pieces of ship equipment for sale at the harbor, the ones of note being:
Bronze Cannons for 20 silver coins each
Silk Sails for 25 silver coins (+25% movement speed)
Mounted Brass Telescope for 7 silver coins (attached to crow's nest, greatly extended sight distance)
Lead Cannonballs for 30 copper coins each
Grappling Hookshot for 2 silver coins each (comes with rope attached, shot from cannons to latch on to other ships or other objects, ran reel back in and reusable)

You can also buy rations for the entire group at 20 copper coins per day.

You think you could convince the group to pool their money to buy ship equipment, but decide to bring it up tomorrow after your hunt. In the morning, you and Mark set out and climb up into a tree waiting for prey.

The two of you spend the next couple hours talking about the events that have happened since you left Stockton. When a deer prances into your view, the two of you take it down pretty quickly. You and Mark bring the corpse back to the boat, skin it, and buy just enough salt to cure the meat. You store the items in the ship. (+1 Deer Hide, +7 Dried Meats)

Ask this to Max, its something ive wanted to know for a while. Do dwarfs braid their pubic hair?
You consider asking Max a rather awkward question, but decide against it. You see that he has successfully taught Maverick how to steal small objects on command. It looks as if he's grown big enough to take on your adventures as well, however he isn't at his adult size yet.

Asno says she has successfully learned a new spell from the Dwarven Book. She can now cast “Suffocate,” a spell that conjures a ball of water around a targets head, causing it to drown if the ball is sustained. It could, of course, be used for more creative things. Her ability at reading Dwarven has improved as well, enabling her to focus on certain things in the book. Should she learn a new spell, learn an enchantment, or improve a known spell?

Also, what should you do?

Are they selling cannon-balls?

Have Asno study ways to magicaly enhance your traps and/or explosives. That would be enchantment right?

Oh wait they are there. Kinda pricy though... but lets see if we can pull together and buy it. If we can raise enough from the party so that we can buy the cannon, some balls, and still have enough money to restock the explosive supply go for it. Speaking of explosives...

Plan and design sea mines.
Plan and design incendiary bombs/napalm.
Plan and design a more aerodynamic bomb shape for your thrown explosives.

Get cannons and get shots for them the make specialized weapons such as napalm
Or do we shoot bombs?

They are selling cannonballs, I just missed them the first time through.

Also, why don't we put a shift in making bombs for the pirate crew. Might as well get to know our fellow sailors. Hell, the rate we are going, we might end up going into their field.

Lets see... We shouldnt splurge too much. I've learned from playing Pirates! that you can get a lot of loot from other ships. If we buy one Cannon, one graaple, and ten cannonballs, that should be enough to hold our needs for now. We can always loot a ship.

I say the sailors can only be in naval combat, and cant help out on the shore. And the idea of creating sea-based bombs is horrible. We're not going to become freakin pirates, we're just going to have a ship.

Asno: learn a new spell.
Max & Mark: get one of the sailors the teach you some basic sailing knowledge
Roy: research making posion arrows. Maybe paralysis or sickness. And try to improve the designs for the Frag and Powder bomb.

Hmm, it seems very artificial our crew not being able to do everything on land, I mean the way the game is going we seem to be raising a small army but maybe for play-ability and realism some people could occasionally be killed, I mean the fact that not a single person in our group has died yet is pretty impressive.

Also Ricky, is the difference between mercenaries and pirates that big? Either way we've all been rejected from most of society exept for with the pirates. The gnomes have exiled us, the dwarfs have arrest warrants for us, associating with the goblins and elves just causes them to tie us up in their squabbles and after the incidents in Stockton we don't seem that popular. Basically the people who like us the most are the pirates and the kobolds.

Also skip the canon for now I think instead board a smaller boat with grappling hooks, then just take some stuff as that's cheap and easy to do without making us too hostile and if needed we could get a canon or whatever later.

Quote from: First Post
You stretch, yawn, and begin rebuilding the fire, pondering the events of the night before. Intoxicated, you began an argument with the local mayor, which turned quickly into a drunken rant about the way things should be run and why the Gnomish king deserves to be exiled. You reach inside your coat for your flask and take a swig to help lessen your hangover. Alcohol, the cause, and solution, to all of life's little problems.

At any rate, it seems as if you were evicted from your hillside village, and you don't know how well you'll survive in the winter wilderness. It is unlikely you could return any time in the near future, speaking against the king is a crime in which death is a common punishment in your society, and you are lucky they gave you a chance to escape.

Also, the crew can do things on land, but being irrelevant to the plot they have a much higher chance of me killing them off, and being sailors they might not like the idea of going into a dark trap-ridden dungeon. Imagine them like any other unit that isn't one of the main group, a roll of 70 by an enemy archer, for example, might rupture some organs and open some blood vessels in a crew member where a group member would get the arrow stuck in their shoulder where it doesn't cause any permanent damage.

Update soonish :)

You decide to buy one cannon, one grapple hook, and ten cannonballs. All of the group except Johnny (who you didn't ask, due to him being with you for only a day now) pools their money to pay for it. With some time and some of your engineering skills, you manage to mount the cannon on the top deck of the ship in a way that it can swivel to face either direction, without being precariously loose and risking it rolling off the deck in bad weather. (-4 Silver Coins, -11 From Group, +1 Cannon, +1 Grapple Hook, +10 Cannonballs)

You spend some time restoring your bomb supply, making several of each kind. As you're making them, you come up with an idea of how to make incendiary bombs, and make several of those as well. You decide to buy a cheap pouch to hold your bombs for easy access. You consider making cannonball sized bombs, but at your current mechanics and engineering skills you aren't sure it would be safe tinkering with explosives of that magnitude. (You can now make Incendiary Bombs, +5 Shrapnel Bombs, +5 Powder Bombs, +3 Incendiary Bombs, +1 Bomb Pouch, -1 Silver Coin)

You head into the back streets and find someone selling poisonous plants and extracts, and after asking him a few questions learn you can mix a potent vial of poison with a few common poisonous plants. The materials required are for sale for 35 copper coins per vial. Each vial could coat five arrows. (You now know how to mix a basic Sickness Potion.)

Upon returning, you see that Max and Mark are being taught sailing skills by the crew members. In the future, they should be more competent at boat skills.

What would you like to do?
