Oh, and before we leave changedgrove can we also send an anonymous message to the half-goblin saying we're at that village from the very beggining too try and stop him coming after us? (he'll go the other way hopefully)

Yeah. Mine the road, tripwire defense, then rain hell on them with arrows and bombs.


Also see if we can't make a tube and launch shit from it with gunpowder, like a miniature cannon.

Plus I'm pretty sure the ring is for immediate emergencies like if you don't use it you will die within 30 seconds kinda thing

 Speaking of catching them by surprise, is it just assumed that areas of earth without mines would be slightly disturbed to match those areas with mines?

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

How would they even know that? but nether less disturbing the ground seems like a good idea for the minutes afterwards when they realize what's happend or if they're on high alert for another reason. Every little helps

After this I really think the group should take a few days of just for training, Max can teach them how to sneak, if two whistles are made for Maverick, so you have three commands - come here (already taught), fetch (for getting keys, documents, carcasses, ect.) and attack. A couple of hunting trips would probably be the best way to do this. And then practice a bit of sparing together as well so you can practice hand-to-hand combat. Also another upgrade for Maverick I thought of, have a blacksmith file down his teeth and then screw in hollow iron tips, inside each of them use Kilroy's alchemy skill to fill the hollow parts with a lethal poison. Then Maverick should be able to inject it via a bite making him a fair bit more useful on missions.

He would never be able to eat properly then. And how on earth will we get him to hold still long enough for the smith to do that to his teeth? He is fine as he is right now.
