Talk to the druids see if they can help you train Maverick in any more advanced skills.

Also go to the wood-working guild you might be able to get some light armor for Maverick too

Don't ask about armor for the rat until he reaches full size. See if the Druids know anything about the spellbook. See if you can get anybody to tell you what is east of the jungle.

You head to the Woodworking Guild, bringing your vagabond battle figurines, and ask if they would hire you. They appreciate your work and tell you that the quality of it is good for a Gnome, but that Elves can speak to the trees and form any wooden object perfectly. They have no work for you. One of the workers there appreciates your art, however, and gives you a compensatory oak pipe. You ask what an Elven bow would cost, and are told that an excellent Elven Ranger's bow would cost around 80 copper coins. (+1 Elvish Oak Pipe)

You go back to camp and grab the book of spells and walk to the Druid's Guild. Unfortunately,  it is unreadable to everyone there, however the head druid tells you that he's seen such writing in ancient Dwarven scrolls. You ask if there is anything they can do for Mavrick, but they say that if you want anything cast on him you will have to wait for him to become an adult. They would train him, but he would become bonded to them and not you, which isn't what either of you want to happen.

You go searching for Max and find him in the brewer's tent, telling greatly exaggerated stories and gambling away all his cash, but for the most part staying out of trouble. What would you like to do next?

Nah, a bow's a bow probably best to stick with what you've got and find a better use of money, and also is the caravan dwarven? one of them might be able to make something out of the scroll.

The caravan is a mix of humans and dwarfs, and I think I've used up all my creative juices for today, so most likely I won't update until tomorrow.
An OOC note, this is the 14th day since Kilroy was kicked out of his home, the story has been going for two in-game weeks :)

Spoiler: Note (click to show/hide)

You consider buying a ranger bow but you suppose for now your yew one will suffice. You walk over to the town board and see the following posts:
Travelers beware of ambush groups of greenskins.
A group of local druids is offering payment for a special kind of moss that grows in the forest outside the walls. With the recent attacks they don't want to leave the settlement. You can go to the guild and ask about the job to be shown what the moss looks like and where to find it.
There is a Goblin woodcutting mill built to the north, and the local government wants it to be somehow shut down. A huge reward is being offered.
Livestock and pack animals are being offered for sale.

You ponder what it would take to build a tank. There is much you need to learn before you can accurately guess what it would require, but you know it would need a large engine, large treads or wheels, a lot of armor plating, a control panel, and a cannon mounted on top.

You consider having Max teach Mavrick how to steal, but you don't know if you want to risk getting caught and becoming a known thief in this settlement.

What shall you do next?

This. Also.

Take down the goblin mill poster. This sounds like a job for Gnomish explosives!

Ask around and see if you can get any information on the layout and structure of the mill. See if the supplies required to make bombs are available in the settlement.
