You check the bulletin before leaving and take down another wanted poster of Max. It seems they are really interested in catching him. There is nothing new of interest.

You meet back up with Max and the two of you start heading toward the abandoned prison. The trip is pretty much straight forward, the dirt path is overgrown but traveling it isn't too difficult.

You turn a corner on the path and the large stone building comes into view. Some of the walls are collapsing, and vines are growing up the sides. Max grabs a lock pick from his pocket and breaks open the large entrance door, closing it behind you as the two of you enter. He lights a torch and readies the javelin you gave him the day before.

He takes you down a hallway and downstairs into the basement of the building. The bars of the cells here are thicker, he tells you that this is where they held the truly insane captives. He points out a cell with a collection of piled furniture in it and tells you the loot is in there, and as you enter, he locks the door behind you...

Then, of course, he bursts out laughing, apologizes, and lets you out, claiming that he wishes he had some way of showing you the expression on your face when you heard the lock click. He hands you his flask and lets you take a few swigs out of it, saying you don't see the humor in that joke.

He takes you to the actual location of the treasure, a storage closet with a lock-less wooden door, opens it, and digs out a box. He fishes out his half of the loot, and then hands it to you. It contains:
37 Copper Coins
A scroll tube full of schematics, something he says he thinks you will appreciate
A shiny silver flask
Three silver rings he says could be enchanted if we found someone to do it, or sold
A large book of spells in a language unreadable to either of you, he says he pinched it from some traveling mage and it could have a good price to the right buyer
A glass jar with dirt in the bottom, and a glowing mushroom growing in it, which he says some Elven tribes use for light

You get back to camp and he drops his stuff off, and then the two of you start heading to town. As you pass by the vagabond camp you see Mark with a knife in his hand and a heavy backpack on, backing away from the half-Goblin that gave you trouble before and a group of his cronies (four people in total). All of them are armed with real weapons, and you see a fire burning in the town.

There are no guards nearby that you can see, what should you do?

Well you can skewer the half goblin from behind, and another of his retinue, with the element of suprise toss mark a weapon and that should make it a bit more of a fair match, say you'll let the others go if none of them want to die.

Then ask max to wait for you outside of town, try to hand in the half-goblin corpse for a bounty reward and re-meet with Max

Added a combat map so you can see where everyone is standing, the rectangle things are tents, the gray top part is the town wall, and the orange circle is a campfire.

You and Max run behind the group of four, and you stab the closest crony in the back, bringing the blade all the way through to the other side of his chest, and pull it out. He drops to the ground like a rock and starts bleeding from the mouth (and the large hole that is now in his chest). Speaking of rocks, Max grabs a rather hefty one from the ground and throws it at the half-Orc's head, mildly concussing him and causing him to focus his aggression on him.

The two in the front are still occupied with Mark, who is still stepping back but seems braver now that you two have his back. (Mark has joined the party!)

You can control all of them, so what's next?

See if you can just knock out the half-goblin if possible, rather than kill him actually - bounty. But yar I suggest mark runs past the tent and topples it too stun the other two

I guees kilroy can slip past a stunned half-orc and kill the human

Well maybe not kill it but the orc can be dealt with after the human, Max should try and keep the orc at bay so it doesn't injure anyone

The half-Orc runs up to Max, who almost manages to dodge but has a rib cracked by the large creature's mace, and tumbles over. You manage to slash his stomach open before he brings his heavy mace down on Max's skull. The half-Orc is now writhing on the ground and coughing large amounts of blood, for all intents and purposes he is out of the battle and no longer a threat. Max manages to get up and bring his heavy boot down on its skull anyway, however.

The human crony turns around briefly at the sound of crushed skull, giving the half-Goblin an opportunity to ditch his companions and run off the scene. Mark takes the opportunity to run up behind the other human and stab him through his leather armor several times before cutting his throat.

Mark quickly thanks you and Max for helping him and explains that the half-Goblin is the leader of a local bandit gang around here and that when they saw Max and Mark together, they targeted him to kill. He barely had time to get his stuff together before they threw lit torches onto the roof of his house. He says that since the half-Goblin ran off it is certain he is getting more cronies to kill the group, and advises that they pack their things and leave for the next town.

You head back to the camp, throw the loot from Max's stash in the chest, and pack your things. You feed baby Mavrick and put him in the pocket of your herb pouch, and start contemplating where to go next.

Mark suggests the mountainhome of Cryptsocks. Max says that if he is noticed by the local government there he will be executed, but that he is relatively unknown in the Elven lands. He suggests the Elven settlement of Changedgrove.

Where should you go?
