Should you get a bow too? Arrows are kind of useless without one, and Mark isn't going to lend you a bow forever.
And since Mark is involved with the rats, the traps are most likely going to be checked tomorrow after you two go hunting.

Go buy the tent. We need to stay warm at night and soon we will need warmer clothes. In your spare time, whittle some more javelins.

You investigate the tent you saw advertised for sale. It is being sold by the local government who wants to simply get rid of it but doesn't want to give it to the first vagabond that comes to claim it for free. They sell it to you for 25 copper coins, a steal for what you're buying. It is small enough when folded to strap to your backpack when you need to transport it, but to keep you light you set it up at your hidden camp area where it is unlikely to be found. You put your sleeping bag inside, as well as the locked chest until you can find a way to open it. (-25 Copper Coins, +Medium Sized Tent)

You light a fire and pile some wood, and begin to carve whittle more javelins. You feel like you've gotten much better at whittling since you made your first figurine. (+3 Javelins, you are better at whittling.)

You go visit Mark's friend and mention his name, and he sells you at a discounted price a leather quiver, yew bow, and ten steel tipped arrows. You thank him and return to your camp. (-34 Copper Coins, +Leather Quiver, +Yew Bow, +10 Arrows)

You also eat some of your saved food, considering how you are low on money. Is there anything you'd like to do before sleeping? You have about an hour of light.

You try whittling bow shafts but you can't find any wood springy and bendy enough. You don't have any bowstring anyway.

You decide to head to the vagabond camp to see if anything interesting is happening. As you enter you see quite a few people eating the roasted meat of the rats you left here earlier, and the people who saw you leave it thank you.

You happen to see the one-eyed Dwarf arguing with a town guard. It seems as if our friendly thief has aroused suspicion upon himself, and the guard has caught on.

You've helped him before, so you decide you might as well do it again. You adopt your best dirt-scum vagabond accent and grab a piece of roasting rat meat, and walk up to the guard.

“'Scuse me, sah, wouldn't ya like a bite ta eat?”
“What? Look, Gnome, I'm busy, I-” By the time the guard turns around to where the Dwarf was standing, he is already gone. “Ugh... just get out of here Gnome, you've just gotten me into a lot of trouble. Now I have to go find that Dwarf again.”

You start to leave the camp and as soon as you are a decent distance away the Dwarf calls you out. “Thanks, mate, once again you've saved my skin. The name's Max Yeskly, world famous thief and adventurer.”
You introduce yourself to the Dwarf, who seems very pleased to meet you.
“I can't hang around this vagabond camp anymore, the town guard is after me and they know now that I've been staying here. I know where your camp is, is there any way you could accommodate me?”

What would you like to say?

“Sure, you can stay, just don't take anything.”
“I steal from the overly rich, the greedy, and the corrupt, my friend. You have nothing to worry about,” he says with a grin. “I'm going to get my stuff, I'll meet you at your camp within the hour.”

You head back to camp and sit by the fire, occasionally going out and increasing the stockpile of lumber you have to feed the fire. Soon enough Max shows up, a large backpack strapped to him and a sleeping bag under his arm. He asks if he could have a spot in your tent, and seeing as how it is large enough, you agree for now.

You begin talking with him as you sit around the fire, discussing each other's situations, Mark, and the local area. He asks if you've gotten his stashed loot in the prison yet and when you say you haven't, he says he will take you there in a couple days to retrieve it. The chest you found comes up in conversation, and after he hears that you have no way to open it without asking he picks it up, grabs a small thin piece of metal from his pocket, and pops the lock off as if it was nothing. He grins and hands the box to you. You open it to find a bag of 61 copper coins in it, some of which you offer to Max, but he respectfully declines. You also notice the box seems to be tarred and waterproofed on the inside, meaning the sewer water didn't get inside it. (+61 Copper Coins)

The two of you decide to sleep and when you wake up in the morning, he is gone. His stuff is still in your tent, however, and he left a note saying he would find you and meet up with you after you and Mark finish hunting.

It is morning and Mark is waiting for you, what would you like to do?

No

He's a thief, he can make do without one, thiefs don't really use weapons anyway.
