If fact we could make some bomb arrows just for combat on the high seas.

The arrowhead is a small bomb? that way it'll explode inside whatever it hits.

I dout we could make something like that. Not with our level of knowledge at any rate. However, having a jar of oil on the end of a arrowshaft that has a lit rag tied around the middle would be cool.

((Oh damn, i totally forgot about this. You do know that the red pennant means that and i qoute from memory: "They will give no mercy and expect none?" Boarding=death.
You guys got lucky this turn.))

You quickly gather some scraps of cloth and wrap them around the arrows you dip them into the oil, light it and tell Mark to fire upon the ship's masts.(The party's clothes have had a small bit cut off the bottom.-7 arrows. -1 flask of lamp oil. 7 fire arrows.

The first three arrows miss and sputter out in the water.(-3 fire arrows)

Mark gets lucky with the next two. Striking the front sail; and one however doesn't catch. But the second does spectacularly. It burns the entire cotton sail into an unusable husk.(-2 fire arrows.)
The last two hit places in the hull and do not catch.(-2 fire arrows.)

The frigate slows down into a speed similar to yours. Inching along as the after effects of the spell kick in. By the next turn both ships will be back to their original speeds.

The ship fires another two cannonballs at you. The splinters and fragments shoot off as a hole is shot through the railing on the side and glances off the iron plating of the mast. The other cannonball does the same.

Max takes up the cannon, but can only get it loaded this time.

Nice work! Now we stand a chance!

Cut across her bow and open fire with the cannon! If we come close, throw a bomb or two on their deck to help cut down their crew.

Wait a sec here... we burned their sails, they're not going to catch us up now, we can go to the loot now. Continuing an attack on the elves when we can escape and not reveal our identity seems like a VERY bad idea.

They have the same speed as us at the moment. Their ship is bigger, so it will beat ours in open ocean. It's best to cripple it now.

get behind it haim for the captains quarters its the weakest place of the ship but before that aim for the mast the can raise another sail but not if they have a mast.

Really? Common I mean we're even on speed, beat them by a decent bit on maneuverability and hugely massively outmatched on firepower, so far we've been really really lucky, facing them straight off will cause us to get completely obliterated as soon as we're roughly paralleled to each other. We can't cripple a ship 4 times our size without another ridiculous amount of luck.

EDIT: After a bit of research frigates had in the Napoleonic era (seems to be where we are, guns and stuff coming into popularity but old weapons still hold power, and also the first frigates) between 24 and 44 Cannons, each cannon had a 4 man crew, and assuming for every 4 people working the cannons there's 2 deck hands or whatever they need your basically saying our 8 man ship can cripple a 148-268 man ship.

We are more maneuverable, that much is true, and as long as we don't go too far from the reef, we should be able to match their speed. But we need to take out their mast at any rate, since otherwise we will not be able to outrun them.

Fire more fire arrows at their sails!

yes, aim for the sails do we have any Chain shot or Grape shot? if so we can take out the sails or clear the deck or both with a really good shot.
