You decide to check the bulletin board:
There is a pack of giant rats living in the sewers, each about three feet long and a foot tall. The mayor is willing to pay well for them to be dealt with.
A local leather worker has died recently. He had no living relatives, so his unsold goods are going on sale for cheap. This includes a medium sized tent.
There is a Dwarf thief rumored to be staying near town. He is assumed to be very dangerous and has stolen many valuable goods. He has been described as only having one eye.
A caravan from the Dwarven mountainhome of Cryptsocks is arriving sometime next week.
A local farmer has posted a reward for anyone who can kill the family of mountain lions terrorizing his herd of sheep.

You pay a few copper coins for food and booze for the night and decide to set up a camp about fifteen minutes from town, away from the vagabond camp so you can avoid the half-Goblin who may be looking for easy revenge. You find a spot in the hills surrounded by large boulders, which you think will hide your camp well. You whittle a figurine of the Gnomish King that is much less than flattering, making him appear as a violent drunk with a tankard of booze in one hand and a knife in the other. (-3 Copper Coins, +1 Decent Wooden Figurine of the Gnome King)

Actually, that kind of reminds you of yourself the night you were kicked out. There is still an hour of daylight, what would you like to do?

Could look around for plants to do some alchemy.

Return to the notice board. Take down the notice about the one eyed dwarf. You mutually owe each other your lives, so might as well do him a favor. Also take down the notice about the rats; The job sounds up your ally and you don't want anybody beating you to it.

You return to town briefly and walk to the notice board. You look around for people watching, and take down the notice about the one-eyed dwarf, seeing as how he clubbed the half-Goblin for you and told you about the loot cache. You also grab the notice about the rats, it seems like a job you might want to do.

You don't feel completely prepared yet to investigate the rats. Perhaps you could ask Mark to borrow a weapon, or maybe even bring him with you and split the reward.

You head back to your camp and decide to use your knew knowledge to search for useful plants. After looking around, lifting rocks, looking under bushes, and the like, you find a small bushel of healing herbs, an aloe plant, and a small plant traditionally smoked in pipes by Gnomish seers. You place them in the herb bag. (+5 Healing Herb Leaves, +3 Aloe Leaves, +8 Pipeherb Leaves)

You take a swig of booze and lay back in your sleeping bag next to the crackling fire. It is a little too chilly for your comfort, and you are concerned how the weather will turn as winter approaches. You sleep pretty well compared to the last two nights.

It is early morning, the temperature has risen with the sun. Your fire is almost burnt out but still crackling, and you notice a written piece of paper next to your backpack.

It reads, “I was watching you in town, and I thank you for taking down my wanted poster. You've been pretty beneficial to me in the last couple days, and if I see you in trouble I want you to know I have your back.”

Well, that's good to know. The day is new, what would you like to do?

Report to the Tinker's guild for a full day of work. Spend the day trying to learn the trade and getting to know Chel. Bring up the idea of rat hunting, and see if she wants to help you design some clever traps for them on an off day.

You decide to report to the Tinkerer's Guild for a full day of work. You are told that a work day is eight hours, but today before you start you receive about an hour of training. They set you to work making simple mechanical parts, which you are told is what every new worker is told to do in the beginning to gain some familiarity. (You now know basic mechanics, and basic engineering. You have learned how to craft mechanical parts.)

During your lunch break you find Chel and start a conversation with her. She seems pleased to have you working with the guild and when asked, she says she will consider what traps would be useful against giant rats in the sewer. After work the two of you get together and think of a couple designs for trapping the rats. The first is a modified bear trap that is made to accommodate the size of the rats. The second is a comically large mouse trap that requires a substantial amount of bait to lure the creatures. (You have learned how to craft bear traps and giant mouse traps. Chel is now friendlier with you.) (+40 Copper Coins for working an eight hour shift)

The cost of the materials for a rat sized bear trap is five copper each. The cost for materials for a giant mouse trap is twelve copper each.

There is still a few hours of daylight, what would you like to do?

See if you can shave a few copper off the price of each trap by whittling some of the components from wood.

You devise a way to create some of the trap components out of whittled wood. The traps won't be as sturdy and reliable, but you'll be able to make them for three copper each and nine copper each respectively.

What would you like to do?

Whittle a figurine of Chel. Go to sleep and wake up early to meet up with Mark.

You buy yourself dinner and a round of booze, and then return to your camp and whittle a figurine of Chel. You decide to get to sleep early so you can meet up with Mark to go on another hunting trip. (-3 Copper Coins, +Figurine of Chel)

He is happy to see that you decided to join him again and the two of you enter the wilderness outside of town. He takes you to a deer blind that he set up the day before, and the two of you sit and talk about random aspects of life. The sewer rats come up in conversation, and he tells you that he would be happy to help after today's hunting trip or tomorrow if you wanted him to, all he wants is a third of the reward and half the pelts to sell.

He also tells you about a friend of his who is selling hunting equipment that can cut you a deal because of your growing friendship with Mark. He can sell you the following:
A set of custom made Gnome sized leather armor for 60 copper coins (20 for chest, 15 for pants, 10 for a pair of gloves, 10 for a pair of boots, and 10 for a helmet, with a 5 coin discount if you buy the entire set at once).
A yew wood bow of good quality custom made for your size for 20 copper coins.
A leather quiver that can be worn along with your backpack and herb bag for 10 copper coins.
Wooden arrows with steel tips for 4 copper coins per 10 arrows.

You consider this as you sit on the elevated stand with him waiting for prey. You once again borrowed a bow from him, but it is likely he would appreciate you buying your own soon.

The clouds are growing thicker above you, and you can spot the occasional snowflake falling, a sign that winter is getting closer. Birds are chirping around you, but several days of living in the wilderness has gotten you used to them, you almost find it cheery to listen to them now, at least when you don't have a hangover.

You and Mark both spot a small group of about four badgers walk into a nearby clearing. He points at the fattest one and then at himself, and then the next largest and points at you. He winks and draws an arrow. You're most likely out of their reach in the deer blind and are probably safe, what is your course of action?

You draw an arrow and aim for the second largest badger, releasing it a split second after Mark's. Mark's arrow hits the largest badger right in the throat, killing it almost instantly. Yours hits your target in the hind leg, causing it to scream in pain and immobilizing it. The smallest badger runs into the bushes and the fourth runs to the base of the deer blind and hisses and growls at the two of you. It is at an angle neither of you can shoot at, and you don't want to jump down and risk getting bit. Neither of you have decent close range weapons, anyway.

Below and in front of you is a clearing with a dead badger, and a badger unable to move due to the arrow stuck in its leg. Below you is an angry badger that would be attacking you if you were any closer to the ground, and somewhere in the bushes a fourth one is lurking.

Mark looks at you unsure, what do you want to do?

Throw rocks and sticks at the angry badger, in hopes that you can drive it back a bit and give Max a clean shot.

Minor Update:
You're in a deer blind

There aren't any sticks or rocks available for you to throw, although that's something to consider next time you do this.

Climb down until  it can almost reach you, and start stabbing from a distance with one of your Javalins.
