visable minerals mod

I was wondering if anyone knew of a mod that would show what minerals are present on the map? I'm having issues finding Flux material in a couple different games and would like to see if there is a mod that would allow me to look through the mineral layers.

DFHack's dfprospector tool can do this, though only after you embark.

That's fine. I just want to check and make sure that there is such a thing a flux material at the site. cause i've been digging everywhere and i havn't managed to find any yet.

Also do you have to have DF Open to get it to work?

Yes; it reads the parts of the computer's memory where the information about what minerals are present is stored, so if that information isn't accessible due to the program not being open, it won't be able to do that.

Also, if you want to find specific minerals, DFReveal, also part of that tool library, can show you that. Just don't leave the map revealed, as that causes other problems.

I just tried to use the dfprospector and it crashed when I tried to use it. I then tried to use dfreveal and it says couldn't find a suitable process. Is there something I'm doing wrong using these two tools.

I have no idea what the problem could be, assuming you're using the right versions of Dwarf Fortress and DFHack. You should probably ask on the DFHack thread itself, as the people there are more likely to actually know how it works instead of just that it does work like me.
