I find it quite absurd and insane since I dug one effing down stair and it happened to connect with a 10 z-level up/down ramps which only span one block. I'm not even sure if a 10 z-level up/down ramps is even possible, but it happened here.

The coincidence is statistically impossible, one block in hundreds of thousands and we happen to connect to that. I'm still surprised.

Also, I was wrong about the goblins. We're not inaccessible to them, we're just at war. Not too bad, until you think about our stone shortage and the fact that our only way into the aquifer is outside our defensible base.

Does that mean I already got my dagger?

I just saw a guy with two broken legs push a minecart with a corpse in it. Yeah.

No. It's just in hindsight since I saw this and thought goblins were inaccessible:

Goblins -----------

*Sigh*  :(
We're at Daggerfaints, after all! Give me a dagger, and I will provide some faints.

You could of course use pumps to drain the water being flooded into the caverns until you can get enough stone to build an umbrella to run the water off the Aquifer and into a drain system.

Or you could pump back up and construct an outer wall of ice linking the fort to the aquifer penetration point. That would give some breathing room while you worked below the surface.

And potentially kill your fortress if it floods back up the ladder.

I want this save by the way, even if it never makes it to my turn :)

That won't happen. Half the level1 cave is aquifer stone bordered, so it basically is spawning water that drains into itself.

I want this save by the way, even if it never makes it to my turn :)
I'll get it to you when I solve our latest problem, in the next post.

24th Sandstone

"DRINK, DRINK, I MUST HAVE DRINK!" Nano runs to the stills and begs "DRINK, PLEASE GIVE ME A DRINK!"

"We're brewing as fast as we can already! Just be patient! God, if you're that thirsty go drink some water."

Nano leaps back. "Water? That horrid substance? By Armok, no!"

(Yes the water is safe, since it only goes 1-2/7 deep.)

"Go ask someone else then. I'm still brewing."

25th Sandstone

Nano watched Spoony as he went to get the badger boar corpse. "What the hell?"

"How in Armok does a war hammer get stuck in a wound?"

5th Timber

A sound echoes out of the pit. "AAHHHHRAGGHH"

Surprised, and partly scared, I ask, "Did we send anyone down there?"

"Yeah, just Spoony to mine out some-"

"Did we stop the current?"

"I don't recall any walls being built, so no."

"Oh carp."

Quickly, I run down. "Spoony, can you hear me?"

Faintly, "Yes, I can!"

"You okay down there?"

"Yeah, no wounds! However, I lost my pick!"

"That doesn't matter right now! We'll stop the water flow down soon, just hang in there!"

"Sure thing!" I quickly run back and order some walls to be built. However, everyone is busy planting seeds, butchering badger boars, etc.

Why isn't anyone available when I need them?

6th Timber

"Well, this is great."

"Another guy stuck down there, this time extremely wounded."

10th Timber

"What?! Not again!"

"Okay, stop all wall building. We have to find another way!"

Spoiler: OOC (click to show/hide)

The best thing is that with an aquifier over the heads of our dwarves, every common area can have a mist generator :)

I might even try to build one into the entry to clean dwarves as they come in and out when it gets to be my turn.

Did you even read the update?!

NINJAEDIT: Okay, I see your point, but three dwarves and a copper pick? That's still one hell of a loss. Especially Spoony and the copper pick.

EDIT2: At this rate, I don't think I can finish today. This is absolutely insane.

Half-self draining? That's... awesome. This is sounding like an amazing fortress.

aw, i died again.... i think the name Komra is cursed with this fortress... let's see how many more "Komras" pile up in our graves before my turn.  :P

requesting to be redorfed again  ::) , as a migrant. preferably one with masonry skills, all previous labors enabled. you can call this dwarf "Komra III"

Yeah.  Thus why I didn't make a trap.  In it's current state the fortress didn't need a trap, the whole damn fortress is a trap.
