24th GalenaI see one of our masons, nicknamed Komra after our deceased miner (after engraving his memorial slab), hauling a piece of stone to the mason's workshop. "Hey, what are you making?"
"A statue."
"But we can't waste our precious-" I notice the color of the rock.
"Spoony and Farmer got it out. Go thank them."
Mason-Tobul walks away nonchalantly.
So that's what they were doing.23 LimestoneTobul wakes me up. "More migrants"
"Argh, I'll go greet them. How many?"
"Only two, thank Armok."
4th SandstoneI wake up again, this time due to cheers and yells. Annoyed, I get up and take a look what's going on.
Spoony runs up to me. "Did you hear? We got through the aquifer!"
All the sleepiness disappeared from me in an instant. "What?"
"Yeah! Sweet, sweet stone!"
Disbelieving, I ran to the pit to check. Looking down...
I nearly fall off the ledge, sobered. Thank Armok! And only one loss!
Running back with a stone, I meet Spoony and Farmerbob passing by. "We're going down to dig out more stone. Sure you don't need help going back?"
I did a bit of savescumming due to shitty pathfinding that got Spoony and Farmer trapped in ice. It was necessary, otherwise we'd be doomed (and be short one bronze warhammer). I only did it 5 times though...
--------
Half a minute later, Spoony runs back up, breathless. "Two caverns, both flooded! And a crude passageway between them!"
The cheering stops. The new recruit, Kivush, breaks the silence "Oh carp."
(x2)
Holy carp, this is bad. It's literally flooded down there, all the way down to 98. Damp stone everywhere. This aquifer's at least 20 layers deep.
Can you even believe it? TWO EFFING CAVERN LAYERS IN ONE DOWN STAIR. First time I've ever heard of this, let alone thought of it.
