Tarran SmithTarran talks to Kaguro while looking at the Jumping Man. "Hmmm... Poor soul, he must be in an endless cycle or something. What a horrible fate."
Continue following the Jumping Man.
You squeeze into the elevator with the stranger, Kaguro follows shortly behind you just as the doors begin to close. You stand silent in the elevator for a moment as nothing happens, in this deserted city you can't imagine the power grid is active... so how is he going to get up to whichever floor he jumped off of? Your curiosity is satisfied when the aura of life surrounding the spirit intensifies, for a moment you can feel the hot still air against your skin, feel the faint electrical hum of the system peaking as the elevator rumbles into action. [Perception+Occult: Fail] As the veil between spirit and material thins you feel... nothing special.
Kagurocontinue following the soul, it's interesting.
With nothing better to do you follow Tarran and the spirit into the elevator, everything shifts slightly. [Perception+Occult: Devastating Success (8/9 Possible Successes!!)] As the veil thins your fingers prickle and the world seems to fold out in a perfect pattern, the strands connecting the living and the dead, the weft lines of the undying pattern are clear to you. Your studies in life let you know what you're seeing, your death seems to have given you... a new perspective on the subject. (You have 7 Arcanos points to spend, at this point you may spend up to Five of them on the Embody Arcanos, which deals with investing energy in objects material and immaterial.)
As the elevator rises you begin to detect flickers on the face of the spirit, it's perfect mask of happiness interrupted in brief flashes with agony and tears. The flickers never last more than a moment but they seem to increase in frequency as you go higher into the structure.
The doors open out onto the 13th floor and you continue to follow the fellow suicide through the halls, populated only sporadically by the fuzzy shadows brought forth from the spirits' own mind. At last it comes to a solid office door, number 1342. As the spirit's fingers brush the brass knob its aura winks out like a flicked switch, the flowers disappear and the man before you becomes a shell, abused and broken. Bone deep sorrow and pain war on his face as his hand rests on the door.
If there was ever a moment to make him break away, this would be it.
Hikari Shizume and Adrian LeroeAs Hikari started following Ross he said to the other two "If something attacks us run I will try fight it, but I have a very bad feeling from this place. *Mutters*I have a feeling hell would be less stressful than this*Mutter*"
Adrian smiled slightly, trying to be soothing. "That's good... How do we get in?" A number of thoughts ran through his mind, none really useful or relavant. He suppressed the signs of his slight nervousness, and held in his normal mannerisms in an attempt to be... well, calming. He needed the information this man had.
Continue with questions, help Ross by calming him down and get the information.
[Manipulation+Leadership: Meager Success (1 left for Ross' first stat increase)] Ross gets the rest of the way up finally, nodding to Adrian slowly.
"Darkest darkness hides the light, Step through shadows into light..." He sings to himself softly as he peers around. After a moment he appears to find what he's looking for and he sets off at surprisingly fast shuffle, a pace undoubtedly adapted to a life in chains.
Hikari keeps his blade out and stays close to Ross, whatever happens he's the only one who's armed, and thus their only protection. An assassin by trade you prefer to hunt than to protect prey... but you have little choice. After a moment Ross leads you up to the mouth of an alley, he enters without hesitation and the two of you follow him with slightly more caution. Twenty steps in he turns left and faces the wall of the building, you turn too and step back in surprise. On side of the building is a perfectly black circle, dark lines like the veins of some dying beast escape the edge and crawl up the side of the structure.
All in all it doesn't seem friendly. Ross turns back to you and seems to look at you for the first time since leaving.
