Circle 1Tarran Smith"Where... am... I? Is this a dream? Please tell me the building hitting me was a dream."
Try to wake up.
You try to wake, struggling like a fitful infant against the ethereal swaddling cloth. [Perception+Awareness=Meager Success] You've never had a dream like this before... but you can't be dead, not now... This can't be death, if there truly is something beyond death then you surely deserve heaven, the people you've saved, the lives you've mended sure redeem whatever faults you had.
Hikari Shizume" I was expecting flames, torture machines, demons trying to kill me, and no airconditioning not this." said Hikari as he tried to fiqure out where he was, and wake up from this odd dream.
Your fate is one that you resigned yourself to a long time ago, this was not the inferno, therefore you must not be dead. How you survived you are not certain, but you struggle to wake regardless. [Perception+Alertness= Botch!] Your struggle is not fruitless and you find yourself seeing fits and blurs of your life, slowly the visions seep together and become a seamless reality for you to explore and live again in.
(Hikari is having a Wraith dream due to disbelief, will last for two turns if uninterrupted)
KaguroKaguro looked about himself. "What is this? Definately not heaven, not like I belong there anyway, doesn't look like hell either.....limbo?"
You try to peer through the shroud that covers you, vision is difficult through the veil that covers you, the glow seems to obscure all hard lines, smearing darkness and light into a single blur. [Perception+Alertness=Fair Success] There are things out there, and if you stretch your hearing you can hear voices, [Perception+Empathy=Meager Success] they don't sound happy... More than that is difficult.
AdrianAdrian... well, he was annoyed. His law-firm was just starting to bring in the big bacon... and now this. Whatever this is. He tried to open his eyes; It's never good to sleep while on the job. Because he was obviously still half asleep... This is not good. Wait, that light... maybe he really did die? Maybe this is the path to heaven... Try to get to the light was all Adrian could think. Even if he was supposed to go to hell, he was sure he could lie, manipulate and mediate his way into heaven... He wasn't a Lawyer for nothing, right?
Bolstering your confidence and trying to shake your head to clear the cobwebs you step forwards, trying to forge your way towards the light. [Will+0=Great success] Struggling to move you legs you take a step, it's like moving through jello but you manage, placing one foot in front of the other. [Reaper Dex+Brawl=Meager success] Something hits you from the side, a shadow across you covering of light. You stumble slightly and stop but are unharmed by the blow.
ReapersThe reapers flock around the new enfants, prepare to tear their cauls off and chain them in a single quick motion, intending to add them to the other two souls captured today. The leader of the reaper group pinches Tarran's caul in two places between thumb and forefinger, ripping it slightly with a swift jerking motion.
Tarran SmithA shadow falls over your face, pressing in against the material that covers you. The suddenly a tear appears, as long as your hand is wide, it seems to let what little peace and warmth there was within out and letting in an undefinable coldness from without in. There's a face an the other side, human it would seem, and smiling. Just as the other man's hands tense to rip the shroud covering you away there is a strange sound, like breaking earth and and shrieking metal. The man pushes you to the ground where you fall slowly, still cushioned by the remains of your shroud.
What happens next is difficult to describe, through the hole in you shroud you can see and hear, but what you see and hear is unearthly. You can see a manhole in the street that you're lying on, and
something starts to climb out. Thin and spindly, with too many legs it emerges form the small hole, flowing out as much a climbing out, its cries generate the sound you heard, and it moves towards the shadows outside the shroud with surprising speed.
The people who had surrounded you scattered, but not in time. You bear mute witness to the spindly thing impaling a human on a foreleg and lowering it into the thing's mouth. There's a brief explosion of gunfire from above you, and the human the beast was holding blows apart into wisps of nothing. Howling in frustration the monster charges forwards, lashing out with two more spiky arms to catch more of the humans, the worst comes when it lunges over you, shark-tooth filled maw fronted by all too human eyes closing over the human who ripped your shroud open.
Bits of him dribble on your shroud as it chews.
From the corner of your eye you see another human try to run, making for the darkest shadow he could find, making it only ten feet before the thing lashed out again. Your vision mercifully limits the sight of what happens next, though the sound still carries. Nothing else moves now but the creature. It sweeps its head back and forth, sniffing at the air. After a moment though the pained moans of the humans it still carries impaled on it draw it's notice again. Making a sound almost reminiscent of laughter it flows back down the manhole, leaving you alone again.
