971 kept a bead on the drugged up ganger-but, he was hoping Kaviv would make the kill. He had to learn sometime..

Action: Finish off the prone ganger if necessary. Use the rest of my First aid pack on myself, reload my revolver.

Then call Kaviv up to join me on the catwalk and start probing into the building.

'...I'm alive? I'm alive!' Kaviv's thought processes took a moment to process that fact. 'He almost killed me!'
Finding the tables turned in his favour for once, the young bounty hunter, face set in a snarl of half fear, half rage, racks a shell into the Widowmaker and rushes up to the barrier, shoving the shotgun over to fill his would-be killer with the futuristic equivalent of buckshot.
"Die, you, you filthy... Dog! ...Cur! Bitch!"
...It would seem mild-mannered Kaviv's insulting skills decrease further in stressful situations such as these.

Akhain Gazhorn
"I'll take the, ahh... Combat Stimulant Package." Akhain tapped the name on the list, and prepared to transfer the funds.

[6] - 'Very good, Mr. Gazhorn. No doubt a man in your profession has a need for one of these. There's supposed to be all sorts of paperwork, rehabilation period, exercises, etcetera, very dull really - but I think we can skip it. Just wait outside while I make the necessary preparations,' the doctor says, turning to his computer. Akhain shuffles outside and settles on a bench in what serves as the waiting room for the good doctor's less-than-legal side of the business.

It doesn't take long for him to call the bounty hunter back in, leading him upstairs while babbling on happily about the state of his practice, politics and whatever crosses his mind. Akhain listens politely while he's guided through brightly-lit sterile corridors into a cramped operating room and set on the table. The doctor is joined by a few assistants and nurses, who begin fussing with the equipment. One of them sticks a needle in his arm, and assures him he'll be going under in just a bit. Remembering the coffin-like surgical cocoon aboard Jinan's ship, Akhain braces for the worst, but soon the sweet oblivion of sleep claims him.

The first thing that hits him when he wakes up again is the aching pain in his skull, and an intoxicating feeling of power at the stimulants only a thought away. Seeing a different ceiling above him, he forces himself up to scan the room, but just finds himself in the doctor's office again, on a little cushioned bench tucked away at the side. The surgeon looks up at him from a stack of papers and smiles.

'Feeling any side effects, Mr. Gazhorn? Weakness of vision, hearing problems, anything like that?' he says. 'I noticed you've had some work done after your last visit. I didn't even recognize the thing - specialist graft, I suppose? It was pretty extensive, but I steered as clear of it as possible. Would hate to have caused any problems for you.'

Systar
Note to self- get more cloaks.  This thing's a lifesaver.

Blade the ganger with the shotgun while still invis.  Charge the pistol one and stab him too before he can realize what's going on.  If they're both gone and it's quiet for a second, take cover and reload the Aurora.

[1+2=3] - Systar steps up, crossing the side room with one swift leap. [Dodge:2-2=1] He cuts upwards while still moving, Thermal Blade whooshing into life. The slash neatly cuts up across the man's torso, [Damage:38+12=50] and nearly bisects him, opening his body up clean and spilling boiling blood and guts into the air. The other ganger lets out a cry of panic [5][Dodge:1+2=3] and squeezes the trigger of his Snaplock, firing off a burst that cuts into Systar's thigh before flooring the shotgun ganger's body. [Damage:12-5=7] Systar feels the shots and feels his armor crack, but also knows he needs to act fast.

[2][4] His implant kicks in and Systar leaps across to the Snaplock ganger, [Dodge:1-2=1][Damage:29+12=41] plunging the heat-weapon in between his eyes and reducing his brains to steaming goo.

Stepping back, the bounty hunter surveys his handiwork. [5] A panicking voice comes from the main church floor, but a stronger one shuts it out. There's a moment of silence, and just as Systar is about to move the stronger voice returns.

'Cutter, come out here and show yourself. I figure we've hit you a few times now. Better if both of us make it out of here alive, ehh?' it calls. 'Who's put you up to this? Maroc? The 97ths? I can double their offer, triple it. Don't you know Bloodhounds are top dog in Industrial? Bloodhounds!'

The last remark is followed by some sort of excited whooping from his companions.

There's a crackle of energy and your cloak dissipates. It's a miracle it lasted this long.

Gaosaron
Gao was feeling a slight bit better for the meds. "Come on. We'll leave this guy locked in here, and he can leave when he recovers." They didn't needed to burdened down with his dead weight.

After making absolutely sure he has any relevant keycards and such the man has, Gao leaves the recovering alien behind. He also ensures the place is locked down after himself and Ratrik for his protection, then hustles back to the lobby with a balance of speed and stealth so he can get to the crew quarters without any incidents. Hopefully.

[5] - Ratrik has no objection to the plan and gets to work on leaving the poor man in as a stable condition as possible. Gaosaron pats him around but finds nothing of use or interest. He stands back and waits for Ratrik to finish. His companion decides to leave a short note for the man if he comes around on his own.

[6] - Gao opens the secure shutters cautiously, checking the corridor for any waiting aliens. Seeing none, he opens up the system and leads them out into an empty corridor. He manipulates the controls from the outside to put it back in place and heads away with Ratrik.

The corridors are almost spookily empty, and you make it all the way back to Refinement without seeing or hearing a single one. From there you head back into the lobby, where the damaged drone has returned - and died down again. Judging from a cursory glance, it would require extensive repairs and recharging before a possible reactivation. It's a shame - Gaosaron might have been able to jack it into the comms network.

[6] The pair find a door labeled as 'Crew Quarters and Canteen' quickly. Behind is revealed a cool industrial stairway, with the 'Canteen' arrow pointing upwards.

"Die, you, you filthy... Dog! ...Cur! Bitch!"
...It would seem mild-mannered Kaviv's insulting skills decrease further in stressful situations such as these.

[6] - Kaviv crosses the barrier with newfound energy and lashes out with his shotgun like he was punching the prone ganger, squeezing the trigger at the same time. The blast and the recoil jerks back his arm and he stumbles, almost falling on [Dodge:5] the ganger who he just atrociously missed. [5+2=6][Dodge:3+1=4] The psycho has no luck either, his first shot directed to the side by Kaviv stepping on his arm and [1] his second by the bounty hunter crashing onto him, armoured bulk crashing into him. Kaviv [6] comes around quickly and places his Widowmaker snugly below the jaw of the ganger. [Dodge:1] He pulls the trigger, [Damage:38+12=50] and the contents of his opponent's skull go hurling down the yard, leaving behind a trail of burst brain matter and blood.

Slightly shaking, Kaviv stands up and brushes his coat, out of habit more than anything else. Blood sticks to his gloves, dark with a faint exotic orange tint. He looks up to see 971 watching him serenely, applying some kind of gauze into a hole in his chest almost absentmindedly. After a few moments, he calls the younger hunter up to join him. Kaviv heads up the ladder and takes up position beside 971, feeling strangely familiar with the weapon in his hands, while at the same time still numb with the shock of actually having killed someone.

[1] There's another bout of shooting from inside and several screams accompanying the nauseating whoosh of a flamethrower. 971 orders Kaviv to follow him inside.

[3] The heavy metal door opens automatically with a heavy whirring of servos and hiss of pneumatics, making any hope of a stealthy entrance unlikely. If they're in luck, they'll be expecting their machinegunner buddy.

Entering the inside of the factory hall, the pair see down into a long, dusty building with several large rusting metal machines cramped together with small pathways in between, with a space right below cleared and decorated in various gang marks and even a large curtain painted in the Gutter Hound colours, only slightly worn and stained. In the space, they can see a group of gangers - a dozen, with more possibly hidden behind the lines of machinery - surrounding a pile of blackened corpses, still burning. 971 can make out a thick-set ganger in a vandalized combat vest carrying the weapon used for this standing on a makeshift pedestal to the right of the group, looking towards the machines impatiently. Several gunshots come from that direction, followed quickly by the staccato whip-crack of another heavy automatic. They can faintly see the machinegun shots ricochet off the machinery in the far end of the hall.

The walkways on the inside go all the way around the hall, with ladders down at both ends. [2] Unfortunately, 971 spots one of the gangers looking up and spotting them a moment before his cry of warning fills the air. Light metal plating set on the side of the walkway provide some cover.

Barauc
"Like a wisp I disapear...In the Glory of the Scorekeeper." Get low to the roof and use your appearance/ coat of rags to scuttle slowly across the roof like a ball of trash in the wind.

[2] - Barauc stocks in the rifle as quickly as he can and goes up to his knees, crawling back to the roof entrance. He pulls himself inside and begins running down the stairs, making it to the bottom of the building without any trouble. He exits through a side not facing the station and moves rapidly through the block, using the chaos surely reigning at the station to his advantage. He keeps to cover, making sure no-one sees him before he's safely in another district alltogether. There he lets himself relax and hails a cab home. Another mission well done.

[6] As he gets out of the cab and turns to pay the fare, Barauc hears a faint buzzing and catches a glimpse of movement from the other side. Dropping a hand to his side, he peers cautiously over... for a small, compact robotic drone to pop out, clicking its camera and moving rapidly around the bounty hunter. With a dawning horror, he recognizes the thing as a standard-model Zuche 15 Tracking Drone, an eternal favorite with the old regime and now his own kind, the hunters. Barauc had thought the new regime had outlawed these things.

Loria
Hoping the bodyguard was using some sort of thermal or infrared imaging Loria pulled out her flare gun and blind fired it around the corner. As soon as the light flared she swung out from cover, opening up on the bodyguard with her carbine.

[6] - Loria switches to her secondary weapon, takes a deep breath and spins around the corner, pulling the trigger of the cheap weapon as she goes. She closes her eyes from experience and hears the sparkling projectile cross the room before detonating, the flash penetrating even behind her closed eyelids. She opens them, still moving towards the left.

[Dodge:6+1+1=6] The bodyguard, safely behind the heavy sofa, pops his head up, completely unfazed, and smiles. Then he brings the SychTech weapon up as well. [1+1=2][3+1=4] Tracking the bounty hunter across the room, the bodyguard wastes precious moments, but finally fixes on his target and fires. Another silvery volley of high-explosive darts blast out. [Dodge:6-1=5] Loria leaps forward, landing stumbling through a doorway into a small bathroom. The flechettes smash into the weakened wall again and break through, revealing metal and concrete.

[1] She catches her breath and stands up, switching to the Carbine. Her visor has regained power and she flicks it back on, hoping the bodyguard's trick with the EMP was something he could not use again. She considered the firefight so far. It was a miracle neither of them had been hit yet. The bodyguard was more experienced than her, and his shotgun did nasty work, but atleast Loria was armoured, and with a ready supply of ammunition. Though, there was still a chance the man had yet more specialist implants he hadn't revealed yet. Her visor hadn't picked anything recognizable up on her brief journey across the floor, but that wasn't necessarily a good sign.

Also, I reloaded my revolver if it mattered, but the sheet doesn't say so.

Well, you do realize you're wasting two shots if you reload the revolver? They won't just magically appear in the next clip when you discard the old one.

You don't have to worry about reloading anyhow - you've got your automatic reload implant and don't have to waste a turn putting a new clip in.

Good grief. Can't believe I haven't hit him yet. The RNG hates me....

Loria decided to try the gravity trap again. No hesitating this time though. Checking the bodyguard's position one last time, she powered her implant down, in case he had another of those EMP shockwaves ready to go. Grabbing her last mine she chucked it in the direction of the guard, then tracked him with her carbine, opening fire as soon as she had a clear shot.

Kaviv was still deeply shaken by the sight of the ganger's brains, blasted across the ground by his shotgun... He fought to keep his breathing under control. He'd killed someone! It wasn't how he'd expected, he didn't feel heroic, but... He'd killed someone, in mortal combat, more-or-less in the name of the Revolution. He clung to that last part as he followed after 971 in a daze, clutching at the Widowmaker.
Idly, he wondered if the ganger had been married, and thus if the gun had lived up to its name... He shook his head, there was still work to do! 971 was telling him something, all hell was about to break loose, and he was pondering the dead man's marital status. Ugh. He muttered to himself, 'Pull yourself together, Kaviv!' He made himself think of the gun as just another tool, like a rolling pin or an automixer or something. Yeah, this was just work, and it was time to make some serious kebabs... Of ass-kickery.
Feeling partially annoyed at himself as well as shit-scared, Kaviv numbly tugs the pin from the first of his grenades, obediently hurling it into the group of gangers before taking cover and gripping the shotgun once more.

((Sorry, I didn't have internet for a few days, and I've been pretty busy... :-\ Also, my first kill! :P Kaviv's sadly not quite the sort to start carving notches into the Widowmaker... Ah well.))

"Yes, a specialist graft." Akhain paused for a second, slightly moving his head side-to-side. "Nope, no side-effects yet. I'll come back to you and complain if any pop up." He flashed a grin at the surgeon, to indicate the joke, before waving a hand. "I'll probably be back again soon. You know how demanding my line of work can be...." Akhain nodded as a farewell, before heading back to his apartment to find a new job.

Akhain Gazhorn
"Yes, a specialist graft." Akhain paused for a second, slightly moving his head side-to-side. "Nope, no side-effects yet. I'll come back to you and complain if any pop up." He flashed a grin at the surgeon, to indicate the joke, before waving a hand. "I'll probably be back again soon. You know how demanding my line of work can be...." Akhain nodded as a farewell, before heading back to his apartment to find a new job.

[6] - 'Quite so,' the doctor replies. 'I'll have a shipment of Sikhet military amps coming in next week I think you might be interested in. Feel free to check in at any time.'

Akhain says his farewells and gets out, mind already on the next mission. He can feel his new implant in the back of his skull, a heavy knot surging with high-grade stimulants and military chemicals. He pauses to consider if he could've just convinced his new higher-ups to let him use Jinan's transmitter implant's stimm boost at will, but it likely had a limited store regardless.

He gets back to his safehouse quickly enough and is satisfied to see the less-honest people in the neighbourhood have begun avoiding him. The area isn't home to large gangs anyhow, but atleast he isn't bothered by the pickpockets, conmen and other low-level outlaws.

Once inside, Akhain settles into his chair and fires up his inbox, checking out the jobs available. The two other offers that were there before seem to have been cancelled, unfortunately, but there are plenty of others to choose from.

The first is a desperate-sounding message from a warehouse owner who's willing to pay 8000¤ if one of his riverside warehouses is cleared up of the gangers that have taken over and are using it as a drug lab. The gangers are few in numbers but heavily armed, and he advises caution.

The second is from a Ms. Taune, who offers 10 000¤ to anyone willing to track down and arrest a minor Old Regime official who killed her brothers. The police haven't been able to locate him and don't care enough about a low-level bureaucrat like him to start a real investigation. The girl's only lead is the name of a club owner in the Industrial District.

The third from what is obviously a front for a crime organization, offering 10 000¤ for tracking down and killing one of their rivals. This 'Three-Cogs' apparently has an army of gangers with him and is holed up somewhere in the Industrial district.

Akhain mistakes the fourth for spam at first, seeing nothing but dubious advertisements and random copy-pasted text fragments, but something seems to draw him towards it. Akhain's vision blurs for a moment and he feels his head spinning, but what happens to the message is much more interesting. Right before his eyes, the text seems to jump up from the screen and rearrange itself into a simple statement; 'First real job waiting. Contact me when able.'

Akhain light-headedness continues for a few moments longer, but then he feels the presence in the back of his head ebb away and disappear. Not really something to get used to. He gets the feeling whatever Jinan wants isn't that urgent.

Not feeling negotiations right now.  Normally, more money is better, but I got a bad eye watching me.

Reload the Aurora, and circle back around to the front.  If I can sneak up on anyone, blade them- otherwise shoot them.

[6] - Systar feeds another six high-power rounds into his Aurora and begins to double back, moving as quietly as possible. He exits the church once again and, peering around the corner to find the side [1] guarded by ganger talking idly into a handheld radio, keeping his eyes at Systar's end. [3] He pulls his head back as quickly as possible, but hears the ganger stop talking as if struck. An unsure 'Hey!' races down the wide path between the church and the next building, but Systar's already moving. Knowing he has no option but to take out this ganger, he crouches low and prepares to fire.

[5] Atleast it doesn't sound like any of the gangers from inside are coming out of the exit to his left. How many can there be left, anyhow?

Gaosaron
"You've got the flechette, so you should take point. I'll keep watch behind us." He looked at the arrow. "The Quarters are probably through the Canteen. Stay sharp; it's likely there will be hostiles in your way."

Gao and Ratrik head upstairs, Ratrik on point, to the Canteen.

[3] - 'Sure. I'm a bigger target anyhow,' Ratrik says and starts up the stairs. Gaosaron follows close behind, keeping his eyes on the shadows below his feet, excepting another bloodthirsty ball of fur to spring on them without warning any second. The stairs are as eerily quiet as what they passed through before, though, and he begins to relax ever-so-slightly - though whyever these things have disappeared for now, it's probably not good.

At the top of the stairs, the pair take up positions on both sides of the door. Ratrik listens in for a bit, but hearing nothing, pushes the door open with one arm while holding the shotgun ready with another. The room beyond is as silent as dead as the ones before.

The canteen is a simple, square room, brightly-lit and high-ceilinged, if somewhat cramped. The pair can see various tables and a few scattered scraps of food left rotting on them. This area doesn't seem to have suffered from the little aliens' vandalization as badly as the labs, thought there's unmistakeable blood on the floor by the doors.¨

[5] Gaosaron looks around and locates a small camera in the corner. He calls Tarur over and steps into its field of vision. The reaction is immediate.

'Hello? Hello? You in the canteen, can you hear me? I... didn't actually think anyone would really be coming,' the intercomm buzzes, elated. There's a brief pause and he adds; 'Wait, there's just two of you?'

[5] Gao looks around for anything to write on. A simple word or two could probably be written on the canteen trays, but any real discussion will have to be face-to-face. That is, if the camera is high-resolution enough to pick up anything else than vague shapes.

Subject 971 and Kaviv Otoli
971 motioned for Kaviv to throw his grenades into the group, while aiming at the leader carefully with his shotgun...

Action: Pull out my widowmaker and start firing down at the ganger boss! Keep myself under cover!
Feeling partially annoyed at himself as well as shit-scared, Kaviv numbly tugs the pin from the first of his grenades, obediently hurling it into the group of gangers before taking cover and gripping the shotgun once more.

[4] - Hearing little of 971's words and with kebabs of asskickery spinning around in his head, Kaviv closes his hand around the first of his grenades, which have so far only fulfilled the purpose of banging against his chest when running. Not really realizing what he's doing, the young bounty hunter jerks out the pin and raises the grenade high, marvelling at the killing power contained within the simple grey cylinders strapped across his body.

[2] Then he sends it flying right into the middle of the ganger group. There's a moment of silence when it hits the ground at their feet with a bright cling, with a sharp intake of breath from the assembled criminals.

[Ganger Dodges:3/5/5/3/6/2/5/5/4/2+1=3] A cry of 'Grenade!' is drowned out by a resounding boom and eruption of shrapnel and smoke which races outwards from the detonation and hides the gangers from view. Kaviv was too busy getting back down into cover to see the explosion, but 971 did to his dismay spot several of the gangers roll clear from the blast. He also sees the full grandeur of the explosion.

[Damages:23-24=0/60-24=36/13/65-24=41] One ganger is picked up by the blast and thrown across the room, landing with a roll and, according to 971's visor scan, complete undamaged. Another has the same fate, but is not as lucky - 971 makes out his jaw shattering as it smashes high-speed against one of the machines. A third is sent crashing down and begins screaming, arms swinging wildly in panic.

971 catches the death of the ganger boss the best, unobscured by the smoke. His grotesque mask of teeth and hate is shattered by a piece of smoking shrapnel that catches him in the eye. Remarkably, this doesn't seem to down him and he stumbles back a few steps, snarling, before a large piece of rubble thrown high by the explosion comes down hard on his head. It doesn't look pretty.

He doesn't waste any time giving them a chance to relatiate. [5] 971's Widowmaker barks and [Dodge:1][Damage:30+12=42] a ganger scurrying for cover is blown off his feet, an explosion of red erupting from his elongated lower body.

[2/5/2/4/5/2/6] Some of the gangers return fire while running, [Dodges:5+1=6/1+1=2/5+1=6/4+1=5] a lucky Snaplock burst hammering through the light plating and [2][Damage:3] gashing a shallow cut across 971's leg. [4][Dodge:4] He counters with a quick Widowmaker blast that strikes sparks off the machinery behind him.

The gangers begin running for different directions, some heading for the safety of the labyrinthe lines of machinery, some returning fire from where they are, some heading for ladders to the walkways.

Barauc
Blast the damn thing! Afterwards see about getting a new base of operations.

[3] - Barauc curses and draws his revolver, aiming for the little drone before it can escape. [Dodge:5+1=6] His shot goes wild, though the loud boom of the shot sends several passerbyes screaming and running. The machine swoops down and speeds away behind Barauc, heading upwards against the side of the hotel. [5][Dodge:6+1=6] He's in no position to score a hit at this range but tries again, shattering a hotel room window. The drone disappears from sight.

Acting quickly, Barauc storms into the hotel and rushes into the elevator, shoving would-be passengers away and slamming his floor in on the panel. The elevator doors close and it begins to ascend maddeningly slowly, a cheery little tune sounding all the way up. When it finally reaches its destination with a happy ping, Barauc decides not to waste any more time and runs into his rooms.

[3] His gear is scattered around and disorganized, and his bags are stuck away in the closets. Packing up again would take some time - less if he just threw them inside - black market gear is known for its robustness, after all.

Loria
Loria decided to try the gravity trap again. No hesitating this time though. Checking the bodyguard's position one last time, she powered her implant down, in case he had another of those EMP shockwaves ready to go. Grabbing her last mine she chucked it in the direction of the guard, then tracked him with her carbine, opening fire as soon as she had a clear shot.

[4] - Loria forces her implants shut, snaps another Gravity Trap off her belt and lets it fly around the corner with [Dodge:5+1+1=6] desperate aim. She watches in horror as it bounces off the table and activates alone in the corner. [1+1=2] No return fire comes her way, thankfully, and Loria pulls back into hiding.

It appears the two combatants have reached a stalemate of sorts. Either the bodyguard doesn't want to use his implants again, or the EMP was a one-shot toy. Unfortunately, time is on the bodyguard's side - and if she doesn't keep up the pressure, he might inform his masters of the situation. However, Loria is armoured, while the bodyguard is not, though he seems to possess genetically-enchanced or augmented bulk and strenght. However, the man also possesses obvious skill and experience. She's fairly confident she could take a hit or two from the man's weapon, but attacking would be pointless if she can't guarantee a solid hit on him in turn.

Turn title; Kaviv's Serious Kebabs of Asskickery. And poor Loria, getting bogged down in an apartment and out of special gadgets. Who knows, they could spend the rest of the game like this!
