Night creatures weren't supposed to be in this release either. Toady does more than he plans for, sometimes.

He planned for it in the first place it what boggles my mind. I mean yes, there COULD be more variety of gem cuts- but who had it on their wish-list? Besides Urist McGem'sessed?

Nice one, not sure when I'll be feeling like killing a baby but these things are good to know.
This is why we can't have nice things... someone will just wind up filling it with corpses.

There's only two wish-lists that matter, I have no idea what's on either of them.

This makes gems a more viable trade good, and gemcutting a more viable profession, which is important for the whole trade thing.

A cabochon isn't something like a cassawarie? Sacre bleu!

Well, anything that'll stop me from hoarding gems like a well-organized dragon is probably a good thing.

It isn't much like a capuchin, either.

Seems to me like it's an encouragement to hoard them even more.

Ostriches eat rocks to help disgest their food right?

Maybe they eat big gem-filled rocks, which get ground down in their stomach to become cabochoned jewels?

Or did someone say this already?

If this is an encouragement to create Kimberlite Chunks™ cereal, then I'm going to do this. That aside, don't animals besides ostriches have gastroliths, such as alligators, other birds (parrots come to mind first), and sea lions?

Microline Puffs Cereal: It looks like turquoise, but it's a breakfast cereal!

Trog's Cereal: Silly Troglodyte, Trogs are for miners!

It's also another thing to do with rocks.  I had been arguing to Tarn for cabochons for a while as an entertaining use for the plethora of rocks that exist in the average hollowed-out mountain our fair dorfs call home.  He agreed it would be fun, and eventually after a year or so of gentle nagging he snuck it in. :)
