I apologize for having principles and not simply going along with whatever you decide.
That's not an apology, and you're lumping most of the players in as one group, which you are diametrically opposed to. You then continue calling us barbarians, and have better things to do then research defenses for yourself ("The civilized people will protect me!")

You goal seems to be to make money, largely by selling us stuff. Fair enough.

You've completely failed at your goals, and are on a path to complete destruction before the game even begins. You've alienated five of seven rivals. It's not too late to fix these mistakes, but it will be if you continue your current line of thought. Stop trying to win the diplomatic confrontation, and try to survive it gracefully.

It's also a policy that would spark lawsuits and likely get a mayor run out of town. :P

What happens in real life is that if you don't pay your fire insurance, either they let your house burn down or they bill you for the emergency response.

Yeah, it does cause problems, and most that have this kind of setup just let the house burn down. But I've not heard of them accepting payment on site, cause it does keep the others paying their bills on time if they know not doing so is a very costly gamble.

Oh god damnit, why do I always see these things too late?

Is there any chance there's an opening for one more? Or is it closed? :(

Closed for now. :P Already got my hands full as is, but I'll keep you in mind if someone disappears as a replacement player.

Bah, alright. I'll be keeping an eye on this anyway. Was thinking of doing an Aurora LP myself (though not as interactive at this).

You're taking this far too seriously, and you all seem to be making the assumption that someone is actually going to attack someone else on earth. That action will have one of two results, either it will make Earth a radioactive hell or it will earn the enmity of everyone you didn't attack... possibly both. It's not a smart thing to do in any case, and I don't expect it to happen any time soon. That is why I don't want to have anything to do with this silly project.

You also make a lot of assumptions about my strategy, most of which are untrue. I never stated I wasn't going to research my own defenses, for example, and I honestly don't care if you want to buy the products. That was a roleplaying thing, and it seems nobody is roleplaying so whatever. I haven't failed at anything, I was just poking fun at a ridiculously stupid policy which, if enacted in the real world, would cause riots and probably get someone impeached.

Thanks for the analysis though, please step down from your soap box and stop telling me what I need to do.

Got to add my last word for a while.

forsaken, you're making the assumption that the only threats are the seven other players on Earth, because they are the only ones you can see right now. However, there is an eighth, your chaos loving SM, me. I have a notebook of things to mess with you guys with, and will use them all without hesitation if things get boring, or if I just feel like it that day.

So... Fair warning everyone, you may want to play as if the universe is out to get you, cause it is.

EDIT: But please, if any of you want to play risky, feel free, I get my fun if you defeat my attempts to ruin your day or not.

So basically what he's saying is, if you see an alien species with technology decades ahead of your own, shoot them.

Don't worry, I haven't discounted horrors from beyond the stars. I just don't think any of my fellow players are silly enough to nuke earth.

Also: Has everyone sent you their marching orders? You never replied to my request for 2 more pieces of information... I'd like an info dump of my civilian leaders and an export of the ground forces we started with.

Doubt it as well.

Dunno, haven't checked my mail, and been waiting for the diplomatic situation to die down before moving on. Suppose I ought to get to that.

EDIT: Crap, going to have to either learn all your emails, or have you send me mails with something like your forum name or nation, cause holy hell, 15 emails called Aurora from people I don't know is damn confusing. XD

EDIT THE SECOND:
Ok, looking at the leaders, giving an infodump of them will be a pain, so I'll be deciding who gets assigned what on that front. As to your question about ground forces, everyone has 20 infantry battalions and 10 armor. Poking about with the mail now...

I hope everyone's just rping here. Otherwise it looks like one of those situations where the enemy is decided before the game has begun...  :-\

I don't really hold grudges in games, I just hope the others don't as well. :)

Edit: Sent my training info and a slight tweak to my marching orders. I should be set for the next 6-8 months.

We would like to say that we do not hold a position on this debate. The Scourge will contribute research to the defense grid, but do not think that we will not retaliate if a third party is harmed.

Informally, has anyone actually made a plan?

The New British Empire should speak on the manner.

Nations who do not wish to participate in developing the MDI are welcome to do so.

They should be free to ask for the protection of the MDI at a later date as long as they are able to offer sufficient collateral.

Nations attacked by IBMs that are not protected by the MDI should not be punished.

The Nation which launched the IBM attack should suffer the full consequences and full sanctions depending on the amount of damage caused.

It would seem that the proliferation of Meson PDCs to the various superpowers will only bring the earth closer to Nuking itself into oblivion.

If anything the technology should be banned from deployment on or near earth.

I speak on behalf of the Greater Chinese Empire.

We feel that the MDI should protect all of Earth against missile attacks, and do not feel as though nations who have not contributed to the defense grid should be attacked. Should they lack anti-missile capabilities of their own, they should be billed a reasonable sum for firing expenses, to be distributed amongst the nations maintaining the MDI grid.

Any entity who fires missiles at Earth will be punished severely.
