How rare are regenerating beasts?
« on: June 13, 2011, 03:08:49 am »

I have a flying poisonous slug building destroyer that regenerates.

Is regeneration common?  I've been trying to remember seeing one before, and can't recall.  It has white blood too.  Weird.

Pure vanilla, I don't even use tile packs.

Here's what the beasty looks like after it's had some time to heal.  It's still recovering from some of what the goblin axelord did to it, but it's mostly healed.

Animals can heal, even heal quickly.

Regenerating (as in regrowing bodyparts) however is a no right now. Which is a shame.

It doesn't say anything about regenerating there...

Creatures do heal in DF, unless you remove bits. AFAIK there's no regenerating.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

Hrm, this thing was healing while it was fighting.  I suppose it's heal rate is just really high then.

It is fairly common that FBs have high heal rates.

Ya this thing took a couple weeks to die in magma.  Definitely too dangerous to try to keep in the fortress, especially after it ate a constructed fortified wall, which I didn't think was possible.

That isn't possible. Are you sure it was a wall? Because NOTHING in the game destroys constructed walls/floors/fortifications/stairs.

It could only happen if the wall was not fully constructed yet (it was still a construction and didn't become a part of the landscape), then you could get a message that someone toppled your wall.

I was mistaken, it was not a fortified wall, it was a forbidden door.  Knowing that, I might try to capture the next flying beastie.

Hint:
