What's the best way to train weapons?
« on: June 13, 2011, 12:38:53 am »

I like making militant LCS agents, but a lot of times, their combat skill is nonexistant.  When I try a solo serial killer run, it's no real problem, I just have to walk into the internet cafe and other places like that, kill the conservatives, and run out.  However, the heat that's on me is really hard to dispel.  And this is just for one guy.  I don't know how to train half a dozen wannabe soldiers without inviting the cops to riddle my body with bullets.  Any tips?

AM Radio station.
You just get chased by a bunch of rednecks after a raid.
I also like to train weapon skills at the crackhouses, first on teenagers, moving on to gang members when you're good enough.

It seems like a good idea, but every time I crash the stage, a ton of security guards come after me.  And yes, I also go practice in the crack house, but doesn't all this generate heat?  I don't know if I'll be able to make my guys powerful enough to take on police and mercenaries in time.

Make them do community service after they go on a murder spree. It'll shake off the heat.

Also remember to do safehouse shuffling.
It will save your life on many an occasion.

As for the raids, if you stay long enough after Conservatives Alarmed, you should get into a chase.
I usually train in groups of three this way, if I'm using a car, four.

Yeah, I tried the AM Radio Station thing, and the hicks did come after me.  I did not beat them.  It's not really good to shoot people who outnumber you 8 to 1 ( I was the only person by the way ), especially with pitchforks and guns.

Bring a car. If shit does hit the fan and you get chased and you can't beat them, floor it. With a driving skill of 6 you will never get caught, guaranteed.

Crack houses used to generate zero heat, but this feature was removed (or just nerfed? not sure) for it was too powerful.

My personal favorite are the factories (the two regular ones, not the garment makers). They don't have security guards, only nonunion workers and the occasional corporate manager. The nonunion workers are armed with chains only and pose no immediate threat, although you should bail out before you get a proper beating.

On the other hand, sometimes you need (or want) a decently trained squad without any unnecessary heat (defending a safehouse which houses legal operations like the Guardian is a good example). In this case, you may either use one of your already trained Liberals, have him/her community service the heat off (may take a while) and train some clean recruits, or alternatively kidnap & convert a soldier or an agent and use them as the trainer (much quicker). If you picked recruits with suitable abilities the squad should be ready for action without juice pumping first. If you need/want to juice them up, you'd best have each of them either grind stealthy juice gains until 200 juice or just have them hack (trains computer skill quickly as a bonus, and typically large heat kicks in way after reaching the 200 juice cap).

And a last note - violence in LCS is not good if you're alone. Even high juice people are only human - they can die from a single bullet in the brain. Bring a whole squad and prepare to replace fallen members if needed.

On a side note, what gun do you guys consider best for a Liberal Death Squad?  The AK-47 is pretty cool, but on one playthrough, I had the luck of recruiting a lawyer with some skill in SMG.  I had him train my leader, as well as a militant wing of the Liberal Crime Squad.  Is the SMG a good weapon?

SMG used to be pretty lame as, while it has a good chance of (at least one bullet) hitting, it didn't do a lot of damage especially against armored opponents. Now, SMGs have been powered up a bit, but I'm not sure how cool they are now. Personally, I prefer rifles for most armed squads - M16 is easy to get from the army base and it fits well with the army uniform. M4 trades off some damage for improved accuracy, and I consider the choice between "heavy" AK47/M16 and "light" M4 to be fairly balanced. AR15 is quite good as well - that single hit is already quite powerful and you won't have to reload during combat.

SMG is trumped by full-powered assault rifles against armored personnel, but it's pretty sweet against most opponents. It has high accuracy, is much more accurate at low skill levels, and will tend to connect multiple shots more often. They aren't very popular because they used to kind of suck (they didn't hit multiple shots often, which is no longer true), they reload frequently, and they fill a weird role -- an expensive weapon that shines brightest when either you or your target are low level.

SMG also has the advantage of being concealable (at least under a trench coat, I think). However, concealability matters little as there is very little incentive for violent squads to actually stay hidden.

Yeah, I really don't like how it empties so quickly against enemies ( but as a result, the enemies die faster ).  I'll use SMGs, cause I already have a few of them.

It dosen't matter. There's currently a glitch in the game that makes every weapon concealed.

Indeed there is, but I'm not sure exactly on how it should work. I'd imagine that sites that are primarily used for recruiting, not combat (Internet cafe, park, Latte Stand, Juice bar etc) shouldn't be alienated by weapons. Purely for gameplay reasons, of course, because it would reduce the fuss of disarming and arming Liberals when going there to recruit.
