How I feel about working with host-nation forces. Meh.
« on: June 12, 2011, 12:40:57 pm »

Yeah, I'm going to make a GD thread for me to post links about stuff too! In this case, it'll be about all the problems with US military forces working with those in other countries. For those of you who don't know (which is very few, I'm sure) I a buck-private in Iraq at the moment. When we do just about anything, we're supposed to include local (Iraqi Army or Iraqi Police) forces. However, we tend to feel like this whenever we do it:

Sadly, what other choice do we have?  Given what our nation has set out to do and the fact that we've decided the military is the ones to do it, I expect we will continue to see this sort of problem for a long long time.

I didn't even notice it was The Onion. Bay12 gets all of the good news, so I didn't even think to look at the source.

Read the link?

So... you are saying the 'local establishment' is incompetent and has little or no handle on sensitive information?  Fun times...

Wow...  just wow.  Has someone thought of giving em false information...  then grab em just before it starts, after they are prepped?  Saying "Change of plans, got a higher priority target 'over there'!"

Imagine the outcry if Wikileaks learns that the US army gives out false information to allies...

Imagine the outcry if the world collectively grew up and realized we can't play nice with everyone on a national level, and that unfriendly acts are sometimes necessary for success.

Its not like the 'local establishment' is doing anything useful with it.  They just need to be ready to move out instead of posting it on their public twitter account.

Twitter Before:

Twitter After:
