For the previous owners steam keys, should I presume its just "Wait for us to get it all sorted and ready from Valve"?

Yeah they said they will send them out soon, but don't want to get blocked for spamming by sending out thousands of emails!

Will those of us who picked up Towns through the IndieRoyale bundle get Steam keys?

Sadly the game is getting torn apart on the steam forums because Steam doesn't make it clear that the game is in beta. This could be an important lesson for anyone considering Steam's greenlight program.

They should just mark that it is still in beat on the store page. I think most would still buy it.

Yeah, I think its really important to be clear when selling a game that is still in alpha/beta.  It would suck if you were expecting a finished game and bought it.(although I'm sure towns is in a great state compared to others)

To be honest, this is one of the things that turned me away from Desura.  I never could tell if a game was still in alpha or not from the store pages.

Well even if its beta/alpha you bought it and you get a preview of the finished game once complete. Its not like a AAA game like swords of the stars 2 launch date... heck it took a year before it was stable enough to be considered *release*

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Every first person game is a rip off of minecraft because in minecraft you view things from first person.

With that population you should probably start over. You will be crippled getting anything done while waiting for immigrants. Get wood armor on everyone as soon as you get food production up and running.

They should just mark that it is still in beat on the store page. I think most would still buy it.

Bought it based on seeing those screenshots from the Steam page and... yikes! They really need to be a ton clearer on their page about the state this thing is in.

I don't mind paying to support development but a lot of customers will and even I didn't like being given the impression of a finished game while paying for an alpha.

I will freely part with my money but the devs would have benefited from a more upfront and honest approach here. Just tell us it isn't done, the truth is a good defense in forums. The appearance of dishonesty ended up being overwhelming on Steam.

I like the concept of the game and hope they finish and polish it. Looking forward to seeing it in 6 months!

Greywar, the thing you ahve to understand is that the steam page for Towns has jack NOTHING to do with the developers.  They're asked for info, and steam has someone plug it into the webpage.  If the page doesnt' say the game is still in Beta, that isn't the devs fault.  It steams for lack of hindsight.  Cause I know that the greenlight page for Towns mentioned that it was still in developement.
