For anyone who hasn't heard, Towns is now on Steam Greenlight.

unfortunately rapid fanboys are calling it a fucking Minecraft ripoff and downvoting it.

I would like to ask that anyone who would like to see the game on Steam show your support for it and give it a positive rating.

I normally don't care about silly crap like this, but the entire premise of why the game is getting downvoted is ridiculous.
I was just about to post about that. Goddamn overzealous twelve-year-olds. Minecraft isn't even on steam, why the fuck are they concerned?

I think at the moment Towns has the highest % out of all the games I've rated.  I don't think the downvoters are putting a dent into the rating.  :)

my god, this is so stupid. after the producers, now the players are shooting indies games in the back.even when they've transfered their fanboyness onto an originally indie game. i don't go crying onti minecraft boards that it's a df ripoff, what the fuck do they care? this is upsetting me even more than warner-bros-cease-and-desist-mod stuff.

Got this on desura (or however it is spelt) the other day but it failed to start under ubuntu. I've not really looked into it yet so it might just be some clueless setting I've got on but was wondering if anyone here knew of 'oh you have to do this' type step to get it running under linux.

down voting doesn't change a thing, just let you have those for which you don't have yet decided neatly arranged on top.

I dont think its true. i think Up votes / Down votes rate affects the overall calculated %.

Where does it say how they calculate their ratings?

Interesting, at the beginning they showed the game submitter the up/down ratings of their game, so we assumed it had a meaning. since we had 90/10 we thought that was the reason our % was better than games with more favourites.

Towns looks like it might be #2 of all games. Project Zomboid is the only thing that's consistently higher despite the ever-changing percent value.

Basically, it seems likely it'll be on Steam.

EDIT: Now it's behind Project Giana. I get the feeling the percent value is way too inconsistent to judge accurately. Nonetheless, interest in Towns is high enough that it's definitely near the top.

I have voted, with several accounts now. I only hope that either we have a new version before it goes on Steam or revert to 0.47 as I would be sad if all of those new players were first exposed to 0.50.

I would guess that it wouldn't go on steam until the game is at 1.00.  :)

I think even if you get approved, you don't have to release right away.

Well, we never expected to be on steam before the game would have been finished, so if valve comes up and says, you have a go, get it on steam, i am really not sure we will do it right away. we prefer to further progress the game, at least until all the features we plan for it are in.
