Ok, you and Akura try the following:

Right-click Towns.cmd and click Edit. It should open in Notepad and it says this:
Code: [Select]
java -cp .;./lib/lwjgl.jar;./lib/lwjgl_util.jar;./xaos.jar -Djava.library.path=./lib/native/ -Dsun.java2d.opengl=false xaos.Towns

Now replace "java" (the first word) with the full path to your java.exe, in quotes, for example

Code: [Select]
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -cp .;./lib/lwjgl.jar;./lib/lwjgl_util.jar;./xaos.jar -Djava.library.path=./lib/native/ -Dsun.java2d.opengl=false xaos.Towns

or

Code: [Select]
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -cp .;./lib/lwjgl.jar;./lib/lwjgl_util.jar;./xaos.jar -Djava.library.path=./lib/native/ -Dsun.java2d.opengl=false xaos.Towns

Close the file, click Save when asked, and try to run it again.

Did that help? If not, sorry  :-X

If it did, I suspect it's because you have 32-bit Java on a 64-bit OS and your java.exe is on another path than the program expects it to be. Installing the 64bit version of Java should make it work without this "trick".

I know I have Java 32 on my 64. Java 64 kept pushing error logs, which piled up and got annoying.

It works, Xin.

Kinda interesting. I dislike the instadeath that water causes. Although I probably shouldn't be tunneling straight into a river anyway.

Apart from the spiders, we can also see female citizens, and that citizens now have names. One of them said "(wounded)", I wonder if that means a HP/damage system is in place. The spider catacombs look sweet, as do the new unexplored tiles.

Thanks. And yes, I'm coding the combat engine. :P

I get the same error.

Well, the error it's very descriptive. Windows can't found the java.exe command. By default, if I remember correctly, when you install Java, the java.exe it's placed into %windows%/system32 folder, so it should be accessible from anywhere.

You two can try one of this:
1) uninstall/reinstall Java (or just reinstall)
2) Find java.exe in your system and then modify the PATH environment variable (image bellow)
3) Find java.exe and modify towns.cmd as XInvoker says.

Here the image from my Windows XP x64 showing how to modify the PATH.

To find java.exe in all the hard drive you can open a console (Start / Run -> Type CMD -> Press enter), the go to root directory typing "CD \" (without the quotes) and then launch the comand to search it "dir java.exe /s" (without the quotes).
Another way (more easy) to search it it's using the windows search feature (right click on C: -> search)

Well, hope this helps.

If I recall correctly that error is actually because the java command hasn't been added to the system path, it normally is on install but it can often be removed by other programs installing.

Here is a link to a windows tutorial (winxp I think ) but it still applies to win7 although the path variable might be reached in a different way
(CTRLPANEL->System-> settings-> advanced settings->enviromental variables.

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a correct adjective list refering the damage status of living entities. At the moment I made a list by my own but don't know if some words are not well applied.
(from hit points = 0 to hit points = MAX)
dead
almost dead
badly wounded
wounded
light wounded
bruised
scratchy
fine
healthy
very healthy

Can you help me?
Thanks

Scratchy should be scratched, but other than that it looks good.

dead
almost dead mortally wounded
badly wounded severely wounded
wounded
light wounded lightly wounded
bruised injured
scratchy bruised
fine
healthy well
very healthy healthy

There's my suggestions in bold. I think 'dead' and 'fine' are okay as they are. I'm looking forward to seeing where your game ends up after following its progress for a while now.

I think your final choices or adjectives for this should depend on what type of mood you're going for with the game. If you want a playful, DF-like atmosphere, you could have the totally healthy status as 'in rude health', and the almost dead part as 'coughing up blood', for example.

I agree with this list, except for the "injured" part, I think it should go straight from "bruised" to "lightly wounded".
