I tried downloading the window's version and got two viruses, you might want to look into that.
It's probably a issue on mega-upload's end, you should use a different file host.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.  The obvious solution is to chain the baby up at the entrance as a kobold detector.

Uhmmm, sure? I will check that. It's a Java game, so, no .exes in there, the only possible infected files are the .dlls of LWJGL (Java OpenGL) and that files was copied directly from the LWJGL package (http://lwjgl.org).

It's sad to hear that, and strange.
Can you tell me what antivirus you use and what files and virus you found?
Again, it's really, really strange. The last thing that i want it's scaring people with false positives.

Maybe the problem it's in your machine, and some viruses (from your machine) infected the files that you download.

I just passed the Panda Activescan to the file and 0 viruses found. (I know that Panda it isn't the best one, please do not convert this post in an antivirus fight)

Thanks dehimos. As I mentioned before, it would be really, really, really strange a virus in that files.

Like I said it wasn't the files it was when I was going to download them. Your file host has been known to have crappy ads and sometimes even packages viruses into the files as tag alongs to downloads.

I tested it with both avast and avg and came up with viruses while trying to download the file.

Oh, sorry Saint, I misunderstood your last post.
It's the first time I hear about that in Megaupload. You must think that Megaupload it's a world-company, and a virus in their pages (?) would be a serious impact in it's corporative image.
Anyway, I had planned to change my host to another, just to avoid the 45 seconds (for unregistered users) that the user has to wait until he can download the file.

Again, sorry for my misunderstood and thanks to post any issue related to Towns.

Regards

the message that Windows shows it's fairly clear:
"'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file".

Maybe you unistalled it or removed it from system path.
I added a link in the blog (http://supermalparit.blogspot.com/) to the java.com download page, so, you can download the version that best suits your system (linux/windows 32/64bits, ...). The download it's about 16Mb.

Hope that this can help you to play the game.

Regards

I also have JRE installed for sure. For me the problem with cmd files has always been XP64 not liking things/not accurately telling software where to find dll's and such. The system folder architecture is a bit different from 32 bit. I'll have to try this on my laptop later which has win7 32.

---Yup. 32 bit is fine with it.

This looks interesting. Just a quick suggestion: get rid of the question marks in the unmapped tiles. They look ugly as all hell.

I will keep track of this, though. Good luck!

You're right, question marks removed!  :P
In Towns 0.13 you will see a black cell with a little brown pixels in it.

Why do anything?
Plain black is fine.

Hey BigD145,

I'm developing Towns in a Win XP64 and no probs with the .cmd

Can you edit the towns.cmd, add a line with the 'pause' command, relaunch and paste the error here?
Will be nice if we can fix that issue.

Why do anything?
Plain black is fine.

Well, 0.13 will be released with a few (6) brown pixels. If that doesn't like I will change it again in 0.14

LASTEST VIDEO
Water spiders

SCREENSHOT
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's curious that I post in my blog (http://supermalparit.blogspot.com/) and in the DF forums at the same time. DF forums allows me to present the game to a great community, so, if no one gets angry (or bored) , I will continue posting here.

Thanks

Apart from the spiders, we can also see female citizens, and that citizens now have names. One of them said "(wounded)", I wonder if that means a HP/damage system is in place. The spider catacombs look sweet, as do the new unexplored tiles.

I don't think anybody will have a problem with you posting here often, I think it's great.
