It's not your internet, it's DFFD. As far as I can tell, it sucks most of the time.

Did you pasture the trained goats and yaks? If not, then they probably starved to death. What a waste.
You can easily let the other animals out of their cages by temporarily adding them to a pasture.

If players are still being recruited for this I'd love to take a turn. Been wanting to try a succession game for a long time! :D

Jargon has been added to the list, and once Kelmoir puts up the link to the save files, I'll contact ashton1993 to pick up where Kelmoir left off. The game seems to be really picking up now. :D

You might want to wait until Kelmoir leaves a link for the save file.
Just saying.

So, uploading is finished. Hope you have fun .

https://rapidshare.com/files/4103214897/Crewtowns198.zip (once more, not that anyone can claim, he couldn't see it).

And Spish, I forgot, to pasture them. Besides, the old pasture is noch reachable because I locked the door to keep the dorfs away from the gobbos (it didn't really worked, even I used Burrows...). But I didn't noticed any xxx starved to Death, so they are probaly still in their cages and waiting to be released.
And the magma curtain probably waits for some dwarfen research, if it is really as deadly, as it should be. And the upper encasement wall needs to be finished. Or the power supply will deconstruct after some time of running due to spilling magma burning the axles.

Whoa, just grabbed the save to take a look around so I know what I'm doing when it's my turn...

What a mess! xD There's like 10 farm plots scattered all over. In my single player fortress I have 1 farm plot (not even that big) supporting a population of over 200. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Come on! Efficiency people! :D

That gives me an idea for the turn's origin story ;)

Edit: Also, not long after I have a little play with the fortress http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18971204/rinsedinks.png <= Holy carp! It's like 30% of the total value of the fortress... AFTER it's creation.

Hell, yeah, these farms were one of the first things I noticed, but since most of them aren't used, i didn't paid any additional attention to them, since someone else has done it before...
and wth clothing industry you could utillize most of them pretty good.

Ack, sorry forgot about this playing now, working on getting a proper magma forging area as when I started my turn there was a magma pump (even fully operational after enabling a gear assembly) though once the magma had been pumped up nothing much happened with it  ??? Also starting some more surface constructions and building a curtain wall. Will do a proper update soon  :D

Oh yes, we've got fortress at the surface then stairs then more stuff near the magma sea, completly missed that entire segment of the fortress, opps, just saw we had a large number of wood burners and couldn't see it imediatly... ah shucks

Sorry, forgot when exactly Ashton started his turn. Anyway, his week is up and I'm going to have to ask him to put up his save.

Ack, sorry about that, the only real change are the outside constructions which are mostly new and some pretty heavy professorion re-assignement, just got a wee bit to busy
