Go to a pasture and open it's information. On the list of tame animals, all the ones in cages will have a cage symbol next to their names. Add those ones to the pasture, and they will be removed from the cage. Takes a few seconds.

Now that that's out of the way, I have to say I really love what you've done with the outer fortress. That small box entrance was so boring.
I did all the outside stuff  :D
Yea, ashton did all that.  I altered the walls only slightly so the cage traps worked better.

ashton, did you hook up those drawbridges to levers during your time cause I couldn't find them?  I made some of my own levers for them instead.
Umm... don't think I did, I was to busy adding additional levels to the walls and fortress bit to get around to it.

Wow, that's actually really friggin' awesome looking.
That is brilliant.
That is hilarious, Ashton. I love it.
OMG yes!!!  Thank you!!!

Totally not a narcissist.

Time is running out Yoink, and you had better have your saves up in time this time.

Don't worry guys, not much has happened is all. Year's nearly done, but no doubt I'll get besieged or something just as I'm about to finish the year. ::)

From the journal of Yunarb Kegethfikod, Mayor of Crewtowns

Well, not much of note has occured since I managed to seize power here, in my bloodless little coup.
The life of a Mayor seems largely boring, with meetings and organizing to be done each day. I have always wanted to be a warrior, not a beaurocrat! But now, I have my chance! A mayor can do whatever they like, including, of course, entering the arena. But not yet! Oh no, much work to be done, telling these simpering idiots what work needs doing, talking to the whining diplomats, ensuring the smooth running of the fort.
I try to fit in some weapons training when I can, also. The arena must be kept in working order, too.

-snip-

I'm wondering if I shouldn't just skip Yoink's turn and see if Draxis, Nyxalinth or Zhaine will actually play a turn. Or just skip straight to Spish.

I'll start planning my course of action as soon as Yoink's save is posted up. I don't expect the other guys to show.

And on that note, I'm curious about how the dropping caged prisoners things work. You guys make it sound simple, but I know of no other way than to trigger it via mechanisms and throw the runaways off a bridge.

Designate a pit zone, then assign them to the pit. But I think this just works if they were caught by a cage trap.  If you built a cage and then assigned a creature to the cage – I am not sure if the will show up when you go to the zone then.

Something that works well, that I have not seen any one do on the forum, dig out a pit 2- 3 z levels and make it your barracks – at your fortress gate. Build 2 retracting bridges (maxed length ) hooked to a pressure plate over that.  Enemies comes and runs over pressure plate onto the bridge, there will be a delay before the bridges drop and why you have two bridges (some creatures can run over one), they drop down stunned onto your training militia in the barracks. FUN

I'm nearly done, if you want you can skip me, but I should be finished in a little while.
Jeez, I think Sucession Games take a bit more free time than I really have at the moment! D: But yeah, nearly done now.

Spish, grab the previous save ( http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5004 ), you're up.
I'll message the other three and check if they will claim a turn later on.

Alright then, gonna get started on it tomorrowish. Doubt I'll put nearly as much effort into it as I did last time though, but I like to do things the hard way, so there should still be plenty of gratuitous death.

No worries, just posting to say I'm making good progress (albeit at a grueling pace, due to the fact that my new laptop apparently runs this fortress at 1/4 speed, and some Windows Update/Forced Restart malarky). Problem is I really don't feel like doing a write-up right now. Might edit the first 3/6 months into this post later today.

Have yourselves another lovely year.
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5078

Here's the annual report. It's out-of-character, so just pretend that Spishaban was the one running things.

Summer:

Autumn:

Winter:

With all the time I devoted to the military, I'm very disappointed there were no sieges, ambushes, or even abduction attempts. It was a fun year otherwise.

Other details for future overseers
