The First of them Fall
Tarran lines up the shot on the unsuspecting Gray... they all look fairly low rank, but one has the markings that denote of it a higher rank. It's lined up... Slowly, he pulls the trigger. The Gray falls backwards, the sound of the shot resounding, the distant fighting seeming dull compared to that one shot. And then the fight is initiated. The four remaining Grays scatter, diving behind cover. Akira attempts to knife one before they get behind cover, but for some reason his hand spasms and the knife is sent flying direclty downards; cracking a tile directly next to his left foot. That could've been bad. He fumbled to get another knife out, but couldn't manage it before Tarran yanked him down; a volley of three plasma bolts screamed through the air where Akira was standing; one Gray was ducking back behind cover after firing, and the other 3 were already inside the ruined part of the building, heading towards the barricades. There was a window behind Gallows; it shatters, or rather, explodes, as a plasma blast destroys it, and the heavy barricades covering it. They didn't fall for the trap! Thankfully, the glass was semi-liquid, but not enough to stick; so the group only got minor burns rather than major burns and/or open wounds from super-heated glass. The first Gray jumps in, but Gallows swings his shovel! It hits, causing the Gray to stumble back, blocking the other Grays from jumping in, for now. The Gray's armor takes most of the damage though. Sami points her rifle at the still recovering Gray, and fires. Two small sprays of the greenish colored blood of the Gray's is seen, and some sparks where the third bullet hit the armor of the gray; Sadly it seems like the two bullets that hit only hit in the left arm and left leg. Aaron slips outside, going in for a flanking maneuver. Just as he rounds a corner, he sees another Gray preparing to break another window. Matthew, who was going to wait, decides to.. wait. Rushing at a wounded enemy with only a knife is never a good idea. Nico isn't so practical... and he has a Hammer. He runs at the Gray from one side, taking only a few seconds to cross the once-lounge room... before getting kicked in the chest. The kick is hard enough to knock his breath out of him and send him onto his back. (Nico is winded; -1 to combat actions/movement actions for 1 turn) Richard tries to follow Nico's example, throwing a knife directly at the Gray in the window! It hits the Gray in the chest just as he kicks Nico... William Shatner cowers behind the kitchen bench. He's a celebrity, y'know?
Meanwhile, Strife, who was shaken up by the earlier bombing run, finally recovers. Looking around isn't priority anymore; There's nothing useful that isn't being used anyways. None of the Grays get close to the area he is in currently, but they probably will soon.
