Internet Browsers
« on: June 11, 2011, 03:08:44 am »

Since Firefox 4 came out, I've been very unhappy.  I don't like FF4 and if I go back to FF3, it constantly harasses me about updating FF and updating my plugins. I'm fed up. So: What's everyone else use?

It's considerably slower than FF3 / Chrome / Opera as far as starting and general use.  I don't really care if it loads flash etc faster, which it seems is all it's good for.

I haven't really noticed any speed or stability issues with FF4.

I use Opera. I've tried chrome (ugly, slow, no options menu or bookmarks), FF4 (trying to be chrome) and IE (is IE) and didn't like them.

Actually, I find chrom* and Iron to be quite fast, and in fact, they do have an options menu, but it just isn't shoved up your ass and around the corner two blocks down and then back out, and a bookmarks bar which you just need to enable.

If you're on Windows, you might consider trying Internet Explorer 9, which came out not too long ago. I don't know how good it is exactly, as I use Chrome myself. :)

I just use Firefox 3.8. It never asks me to update to 4.0.

I am running uzbl-browser. There are no tabs, no plugins, no update managers, no menus, and no buttons. There is not even a “Back” button. Everything is controlled with keyboard shortcuts except following links, but you can even do that with the keyboard if you want.  If you get tired of bloated web browsers, try it.

I am using FF4, just updated from my old firefox. Honestly, I dunno about this slowness you are talking about, according to my very rough estimate it takes slightly under a second for me to be able to type my destination into Google, which does not seem like a long time.

Guys, Lynx is by far the best web browser out there. Give it a try.

I dunno. It has a x in it's name. How good can it be?

Also, I like bobcats better, is there a bobcat browser?
