I do believe it's about several children with severe manic-depressive symptoms who each have their own additional, unique mental problems, who are forced to pilot giant, semi-organic robots, and who suffer brutal, but mostly imaginary, wounds during each and every battle, and who can't seem to die no matter how much they may want to. All the while being controlled by an insane organization who wishes for nothing more than to wipe humanity off the face of the Earth (and the moon, apparently).
