An interesting note: my brother absolutely can't stand to be around people with his same level or higher or social ineptitude, usually by way of Aspergers or Autism. I mean sheesh.
I mean, you'd think: "Hey, AS!  Date a dude with AS and everything will be perfect!"

Two people who are unable to understand eachother's emotions would be terrible together. People with AS aren't sociopaths (well, they can be, but it's not a norm). They still have emotions, and everybody else can still read them. But if both people can't understand the other at all, no amount of work is really going to fix that.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

You know this, and I know this, but one of the things about not understanding emotion is not understanding just how important that understanding is >________________>

Er, well, at least I have at least a slightly better understanding now.

The divorce rate in general is stupidly high, period.

But yeah, everybody's a wee bit crazy- some moreso than others. You have to find complimentary crazy, not conflicting crazy. Or bad crazy. Bad crazy is just bad news.

Do you have any sources on that?

Numbers on such rates are entirely well, weird. Divorce rates of american-born asians are higher than asian-born asians, but we can't just say it's because of America or American culture, for instance.

Eh, if you'll accept my recollection, it's 50% for the general populace, 90% for AS folks.

The statistics are in the AS Wikipedia article.

I'd view it more as "the hasty marriage rate is too high".

I'd view it more as "self-entitled twats not understanding that a relationship and love is hard work and not story/movie romance".

I searched from my phone, which was a pain and wasn't able to find the reference on wiki. Did a google search and apparently a dutch study claims 80% of AS marriages end in divorce but I also saw some webpages calling that study is a load of crock. So I'm still unsure here, more research needed when I actually have access to a computer.

... Why are you asking in an Asperger's thread about senses of humor?

I have one, but apparently what we find funny doesn't exactly match up.  Anyway, I already asked that we not derail further and this whole matter has been discussed via PM--so let's leave it aside.

That's how most divorcees see it, too.

I'm ahead of the game. 24 and a load of friends my age already divorced. I'll be living with the girl I like awhile before considering marriage. That's what you have to do nowadays.

Or marry someone not from the US. Hell.

Seriously?

This is why marriage is a thing of waaay far away for me, if ever.  I... can't imagine being mature enough to get married just 3 years from now, let alone having been mature enough in the interim to marry and then divorce.
