Sounds familiar. While for her, relaxation is yapping talking. So when she relaxes, I don't and vice versa
Although you can also act like a douche to save energy on analysing, that works.

I have had many many fights with mine about this.  Typical introvert/extrovert relationships.  Extroverts see the introvert's desire for privacy as meaning they have something to hide and solitude as meaning they don't really like people.  Introverts see those interpretations and the needs of extroverts as paranoid, needy, and disrespectful.

Whoa, too much to read! Anyway I'm an aspie. They say it's rare in females, but I don't think that's true. I think they just don't catch it in females because our socialization is different and we present differently than males.

I was never diagnosed because in the 80s the concepts of "academically successful female" and "autism" were considered mutualy exclusive. I don't even think Asperger Syndrome had been officially recognized yet. My strangeness was written off as a quirk of being so intelligent, and my mother constantly screamed at me about being a hypochondriac. I didn't discover aspergers until I was 24. It explained absolutely everything about my life and I fit the bill so perfectly that perfect is not a strong enough word. There was simultaneous relief at knowing I wasn't crazy, and depression about realizing that I'll be this way forever and there's no treatment. On the other hand, since then I've focused on learning social skills and most people have no idea there's anything different about me now (until I find myself in a situation I've never thought to prepare for, where I freeze up and freak out or run away).

I took that "EQ" test (not sure if it's been mentioned on this thread yet) and though I expected to be below average, I was shocked to find myself in the 3rd percentile. THIRD. From the BOTTOM. My inability to read facial expressions, identify emotions, respond appropriately to a situation or "read" people in general is next to zero. I tend to suspect that I will spend the rest of my life single and die alone in an apartment full of cats, because I am simply hopeless when it comes to flirting and connecting with people, no matter how hard I try (and dear god do I try).

Now I'm getting all sad again. How about some good news: I learned to read when I was 3 and my obsession with grammar makes me one of the best English teachers in Prague! Also kids love me, which is cool because I like playing with their toys, and I start my new job as a preschool teacher on Thursday.

Aha! I was always good with young children too, from a young age. I've always been obsessed with grammar and language- though lack of inclination and usage has dulled that skill. I've got snippets of about ten different languages.
I'm fluent in English. Used to be fluent in Japanese but lack of use has put that down to passable. I can usually get the gist of a conversation in any Germanic language as the words are so similar, and most Romance languages are the same. Latin I love.

[EDIT:] Sappho, I learnt to read at three as well. Courtesy first of street signs. "STOP! STOP! COLGATE! COLES!" and then was bought lots of books. I'm well liked by young children because I can relate to them quite well and a single calming look from me can calm a child. I've been told i have a very calm, cool demeanour which makes young children very peaceful around me. (And older people too, but mainly children.)

Australian trains are just like Italian ones! They're not considered late until they've scraped into the station at 25km/h five minutes after the train was due. We've still got trains that have been in constant service since 1985, and they smell as if they haven't been cleaned since then. I call them 'Tin Cans' or 'Grey Army' trains because they look so boxy and old... though they work well. The more modern ones are actually less reliable... Our Comeng/Alstom train caught fire the other day. VICTORIAN PUBLIC TRANSPORT FTL.

[EDIT2:] Funfact: Victoria's trains are myriad. There's the Hitachi ones (1985 is wrong, they first entered service in 1971), the Comengs are 1985. Up until the early 70s we had the Tait trains (Red Rattlers) that ran from 1953-1972)... but where I live we only get the Hitachi and Comeng trains... rarely the 2003 Siemens and never the 2002 X Traps (X'Trapolis 100)....
