I've been thinking of running a RTD for a while, so let's try this out.

This would be the 'Tunguska' I'm referring to. You are a member of the Russian team sent to investigate it. (The one commissioned by the Tsar that is not recorded to have happened anywhere, not the one sent by the soviets.) You can either be a scientist, or a guide.

Guides get a +1 to travel through the forest and to firing their rifle (every guide starts with one rifle and 20 shells).

Scientists get a +1 to anything requiring thought. Hence you could plan a bridge to get over a creek or something, and you will get a +1 to putting it in place. In order to simulate the time needed to plan it it will take one turn to 'plan' any action, so use it wisely.

Of course, were you to have a scientist help plan a guides travels, well that could be very helpful.

Other modifiers will be assessed according to physical and mental condition as the game progresses.

These are the starting positions. More may become available as the game progresses. Please bold your actions.

Guide 1: Elfeater (Flintus10)
Guide 2: Darvi (McClay)
Guide 3: adwarf
Scientist 1: Dermonster
Scientist 2: Noah Tophatz (Root Infinity)
Scientist 3: NRDL

Resident Tree: Strife26

Let's roll.

Could the rest of us be another group or villains?

Imperial Russian Observatory Daily Log, June 30th, 1908.

This morning an enormous fireball streaked across the sky. As yet we have no idea what caused it. Speculation has ranged from divine intervention to a meteor. Without further information we cannot draw any conclusions. Therefore we request that an expedition be sent immediately.

According to our calculations it landed somewhere in the middle of Siberia, west of Lake Baikal, most likely in the pine flats. Travel their will require a trip by rail into Siberia and then the hiring of guides to take the scientists north.

As well, someone should begin producing propaganda about this immediately to keep the peasantry pacified.

You have been selected from amongst the best scientists in Russia (which doesn't mean much) and sent to learn everything you can about this, event.

After debarking the train you hired some locals  and their dogsleds to lead you north. They were reticent and large bribes were needed to convince them to take you.

You travelled for two weeks north through the endless pine trees. Eventually you began to see branches down, and then the occasional tree. Soon every branch was stripped of its needles.

Then the branches themselves vanished from the trunks. Then the trunks came down. You stood on the edge of a vast crater, with trees laying down in every direction, all of them radiating from the centre of the crater. The crater itself was oblong and was several miles across, and several hundred feet deep.

GO!

PPE:

Could the rest of us be another group or villains?

Eventually, maybe. Remind me in a bit. Depends how the plot flows.

EDIT: (Anyway)

Spoiler: Tunguska in 1927 (click to show/hide)
