Have you heard of Minedraft? It's useful!
« on: June 09, 2011, 04:33:45 pm »

I did a search and didn't find any results, so I thought I would make this topic.

Hello. I've been getting into Minecraft recently and I discovered this wonderful little tool they have, called Minedraft.

I have a feeling the DF community could easily use it as a fort planning tool. I know I have been!

That is actually pretty cool.  I like this graph paper app.

Hummm...

It's kinda finicky though. Placed blocks cannot be overwritten by new blocks and have thus to be either moved aside or erased first. It's also kinda slow at erasing too.

Still fun though.

There are a number of other fort design tools here, I haven't used any though so I've no idea how they compare.

You forgot the lever he pulls to open the magma door.

This is funny, because I was thinking the other day that Minecraft really needs an equivalent to DFFD.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

A true dwarf needs no design tools.

No need to. Wood burns.

Unless something's changed since the last time I've done extensive work with magma, magma only destroys items it shares a tile with, meaning unless the door is opened, it's safe.

Man, this would be really really cool if only...

1) It had layers.
2) The GUI didn't zoom when you had an active tool.
