I like how the fishing expert is also a diagnostician:

"You're looking a little green around the gills, Urist."

Urist McDoctor cancles diagnose patient: Interrupted by carp.
Fixed.

And the fisher is also a furnace operator.

"Urist, how did you smelt all that iron? We don't have any fuel!"
"It's a secret. By the way, can you bring more small pieces of fish? I'm, uhh, running low."

My first migrant wave on my newest fort....

2 dwarfs!

And yet, one of them was a High Master Armorsmith :D  (best migrant wave EVER!)

Then the next wave came with a bunch of Military types (most novice to adequate), but with a.... High Master WeaponSmith :D

"It looks like you've got yourself a Helmet Snake, Snake.  They're supposed to be frightfully venomous.  You should be careful."

"Huh.  So how does it taste?"

Only thing that came to mind from ambusher + food related skills.

As previously suggested, make the Wax Worker your Broker. Almost any industry will take priority over Administrative jobs so not having any real skills is a bonus; it's annoying to have to tell your broker to stop smelting or churning out bricks so that they'll go talk to the merchants. Turn off cleaning and the sundry other jobs that she might have and let her camp out in your Meeting Hall to build her other social skills.

That's a great migrant wave? I get those all the time, then. My best migrant was a legendary swordsdwarf, who later became hero of Pointyknives.

Cuppsworth has turned into the 'penny pincher'.

After the great trauma of having some one steal one penny from him he has invented a alter ego who stocks the night and fights crime in the city of Gotham Penny-Villa. With his faithful ward buck boy he strikes fear into the hearts of petty criminals everywhere.

That doesn't look like "the best migrant wave ever". Sure the third one is pretty awesome, and the first dwarf isn't too useless, but the second is very average at best and the fourth one is gonna haul or go to the military or die brutally or something.

Best migrant wave ever is when you get a legendary weaponsmith/armorsmith/mechanic/cook/grower in your second or third migrant wave.

Hell bowyer isn't even useful when you have a good weaponsmith, unless you are short on copper, which seeing how I am usually swimming in tetrahedrite isn't a bother.

My favorite wave was one I nickname dthe "House MD wave".  It was a High Master Diagnostician, and 4 other dwarfs of varying competence in multiple medical skills... and a couple of other less useful dwarfs. They arrived in the summer of my third year...  I just got the hospital up and running for them when my first Goblin Christmas came that winter.

My second favorite had the High Master Liar and the Accomplished Persuader.  These two had no other skills...  i can only imagine how they got into the migrant wave (not that the other 10 dwarves they arrived with were stellar examples of Dwarven skill... but ...).

That last dwarf looks like he needs his fishing skill activated.  Your fisherdwarf can just clean it, and stay in the fort with his other useful skills.

Fisherdwarves are some of the first to die, they should always be red-shirts.

(Don't attempt to answer that.  Down that path lies ... well I was going to say madness but you all run towards madness as if it was made from chocolate and puppies.  Just forget I said anything.)
