I accidentally sealed one of my peasant masons inside of a magma tube area. Because I couldn't be bothered removing the construction, I drafted him in the hope of removing maybe an Imp or two. He sat by the edge of the tube and up popped an imp which he wrestled to death. Then a fireman popped up and an epic wrestle was fought. The Fireman pulled the recruit into the lava where they continued to wrestle (temperature was off). After about 20 seconds of watching them magma wrestle I realized that this shouldn't be happening. I quickly exited the game, changed the .init and reloaded the save.  I looked  at the aftermath, They wrestler Burst into flames as he should. But when I inspected the Fireman he had a red upper body and his title was flashing red and yellow. I went into the Inventory menu and saw that he had stolen two items of flaming clothes from the dwarf. I thought to myself Is this a bug... A fireman on fire inside of a magma tube. Eg

Hmm... looks like it had a grip on those two items when it was wrestling, and still is holding them even though the dwarf burned up.  As for the red upper body, could that just be a wound from the fight?  Could be hard to verify whether it's taking damage from the burning objects, or if it just bleeds to death, however.

The wound is very likely to be from the fight. Yet, the items it is holding should've burnt instantly.

The thing that got me was that the Fireman title was flashing red and yellow. Im pretty sure this means hes burning to death.

Well, we'll know for certain if it lives.  If it dies on the other hand...

Sorry false alarm. The clothes eventually burnt away. It still amazed me that a recruit could do so well versus that fireman though. When it comes to dwarf fortress I guess I should expect the unexpected.
