Wii U
« on: June 07, 2011, 11:57:08 am »

That's right, just announced by nintendo, the Wii U.
Apparently backwards compatible with some wii controllers and such, the new controller has a 6 inch touchscreen on it. Apparently, if someone wants to snag the tv or whatever, you can still play the game on the controllers screen.

Anyone else think Nintendo should fire their naming department?

Wow, that controller looks huge.

I see that they haven't given up their addiction to gimmicks.

Well, the names are simple I suppose, though not the greatest. Anyways, a name is just a name.

As for the concept itself, seems a lot nicer than the Wii controller remote thingy. it reminds me a tad of the Dreamcast controller where you had the memory card with the screen on it.

I am curious, they said its backwards compatable with Wii, but does that mean it can use gamecube as well?

EDIT: Oh, and this kills 'screen looking' for FPSs =p

I am scared an extra controller will cost $150 or something.

Also, I said it out loud and it's the onomatopoeia for a siren. :U

I'm going to say I'm cautiously optimistic for this one... from the press confrence it sounds like the subtely admited that they've shafted the core gamer, and that they're going to try to fix that a bit... Cautioimistic.

The controller also has a speaker on it.

The device is designed to appeal to all users, especially traditional gamers, who will appreciate the twin 3D pads, D-pad, two shoulder buttons, twin triggers, microphones, accelerometer, camera, and gyroscope."

Not to mention that in a certain asian language, wii (at least phonetically) means cunt.

A traditional gamer uses the keyboard and mouse. :V

Its kind of funny, the controller actually seems to be pretty close to being an awesome handheld system like the DS, except that it is a controller instead.

I will never understand what Nintendo is thinking.

I almost feel bad that I'm more interested in the specs of the controller than the WEEEYOOOUUUU itself

but not really
