Given the number of women who are raped, molested, solicited for sex by strangers, etc. around here, I'm prone to consider a zero tolerance policy.  Allowing those who commit sexual crimes to remain in power informs the rest of us that it's okay, and lauded by society as long as you do a good enough job elsewhere.

You make a good point, there. Incidentally, is it a crime, legally speaking? Even if I maintain my, "Don't fire him for his personal lifestyle", I wouldn't have a problem with him suffering the appropriate sentence for actions he does take as part of that lifestyle, and presumably he wouldn't be able to keep working during it. I probably can't maintain it as applicable to this particular situation, though I do maintain that as a general rule, the fidelity of a politician in marriage isn't relevant to their job and the appropriate punishment is a divorce. It's the unsolicited part here that does it, though. Not really acceptable.

I'm kind of fuzzy on the law, but this is about the same (in certain dimensions) as flashing someone.  It may or may not be, strictly speaking, illegal--but it's one of those things where I sort of think it should be.

(Of course, there's another bunch of muck about maintaining the freedom of the internet, which I will say does not apply here because he had his real name and identity fully attached to everything)

This isn't a lifestyle thing.  Sex with consenting animals?  Polyamory?  Bisexuality?  A history of mental illness that still leaves him able to do his job?  Unruly children?  I don't really give much of a crap.  That's his personal business.

It isn't random people, but in this case 'unsolicited' means sending them w/o a request. From a quick look at a story on it, he sent them to people he was having online chats with about topics which were mostly tangential. Kinda like if, after posting this, I were to send photos of mine to you; completely unacceptable behavior from anyone.

This is the part that makes me suspicious. I'd like to know what conversation led to "Oh, btw, here's the ole frank n beans!".

So we have serious issues without all the data, and a subtle, sexually charged overture in the very first instance of communication. Yes, that looks a bit suspicious.  Does that make it right? Nope. Does it look like not all the information has been made available for a fair assessment? Yep.

Cool. Where did I blame the involved women in this thread? For that matter, where have I blamed women for being victims of harassment anywhere?

I should clarify that I meant "as is usual from society," rather than "as is usual from you."  Reading your words made it look like a "as usual, we can't trust the female testimony" mess.  I am probably also being affected by depression, which is not your fault, but is clouding my vision at the moment.
