Of course I want to apply. How do I start?
I have to rule books. Do you want them? I remember you wanted to be a Freebooter. Now we'll have two, and that is ok with me.

Yeah that would help. I've no clue how to play any of the WH40K RPGs.

Probably going to give in and buy the books anyway, but at least I can start character creation if you send me some basic start-up info now.

If you try to cast something, and you fail and cause an event of Tech Scorn, I will kill you.

That doesn't happen as much as you think it does. And getting Tech Scorn is rare because it only has a 3% chance of happening, after a 28% chance of getting Psychic Phenomena (at Psy Rating 2, which is what he'd start at).

Of course, this means that the first time Cript tries to cast something, he'll get Psychic Phenomena, and roll Tech Scorn.

He can just fetter it.  Negative effects of psyker powers were toned down a lot from Dark Heresy when the writers realized that with the number of rolls a character makes in a game, catastrophic failures were too much of a given to make psykers fun for people who like their characters.

Also, I misread the starting XP blurb and thought we got to start with 4500 unspent XP.  With the advances Freebootas get, it was like Christmas came early.  Then a man in a suit walked up, took my presents, and told me Santa was dead.

for people who like their characters.

So you thinking we should change it to DH rules then?

Okay. I have a question.

Why in the world are talents I start with for sale in the advances area?

Probably because, with GM permission and at increased cost, some advances can be taken from classes other than your own.

Almost have enough info to make a character but I've been focused on getting up to speed on the basic combat rules (not spaceship combat or anything). Do I have to use the random roll for characteristics or can I use the suggested point allocation method?

Also, how are we meeting? I'd prefer MapTools for its in-built functionality but I could go pure IRC if it's easier to do that.
