"Freeboota:GORK AN MORK FOREVA!"
"Missionary + Explorator : SHUDDAP."

This is going to be very interesting.

By your description, it seems your profit factor and ship points are either the fourth (30 PF, 60 SP) or fifth (20 PF, 70 SP).
I'm still goingt o let everyone decide on it, that's just what it sounds like to me.

Hell, anything is really appropriate.

Large sum of cash left but crappy ancient ship?

Fortune gone but pimped out ancestral ship?

Yeah, it's pretty open on that end.  I'm really okay with anything the group decides, although I kind of feel like a better ship would be a better asset than high profit factor at the beginning.  I dunno though, I've never actually played RT.

A ship sounds pretty cool to me, but I have not really looked into all the rules for that.

Also, I have been reading the powers I can use, and they seem pretty awesome. As basically a living radio set, it seems I can 'talk' to any of you so long as you are within 2km essentially for free. Of course that is not all that useful seeing as how we are sure to all have beads, but still, if something happens, then we are still cool.

Of course I may be reading this all wrong, and I most likely am seeing how it seems that if I do not speak the language of whoever I am 'talking' too I take a -20 to a test that does not exist...

I feel like having a pimped out ship is better than the profit factor because we can use it to increase the profit factor. plus from what I am reading it looks like it would just be alot of work upgrading  the ship.

The Explorator would like a pimped out ship rather than mere wealth.

I've been looking more at how things work.  I am almost certain a high quality ship will be a greater asset than high starting profit factor.  PF will increase pretty readily but ships and ship components are a colossal investment, and even with 70 profit factor a good ship is going to be hard to come by.

This is what I'm thinking we do.  We take the 30PF 60SP route, get a cruiser with a lot of firepower, and start extorting weaker (Probably xenos, don't want to do it to humans do we?) planets by threatening orbital bombardment.  That kind of income in gold and xenotech artifacts should be enough to get us a more stable profit factor if we're good at it and don't bite off more than we can chew.

What does everybody else think?

Also, you can all decide on what ship you want. You can build it from scratch, or pick one of the prebuilt ships in either rulebook, or one off the internet, as long as it's under your SP.

Mr Radio agrees with your course of action.

I will read the rules on ships and economy in more depth then put in a formal suggestion, but I believe the current course of good ship bad money is a good one.
