Uh-huh, I'm too cheap to buy them.

And my only real piece of knowledge is that randomly rolled characters can end up badly. Like a blind void born Psyker on a team with a Pariah.

I would play, if I had the books or something... And a random character generator, because most of the time I let the RNG decide my fate.

I can get you the books, and I'm pretty sure there are character generators.
