Impossible trap components available at embark
« on: April 17, 2008, 01:01:00 am »

I don't think this is a side-effect of my modding, since I haven't touched the dwarves at all, and this happens with them.

Soo... when I embark these days, I usually like to take a tower-cap giant axe blade with me, just for the sheer idiocy of such a thing.  Or a large, serrated, tower-cap disk.

I'm pretty sure you can't actually make those, but there they are.

This isn't game-breaking, and I think it's kind of funny.  But it's a bug, and it's there.  Is it known?

Well, tower cap is wood, and you can make stuff like that out of wood, I think.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain you can make trap components out of wood. I believe that this is at least partially so that you can make screw pumps entirely out of wood, which is necessary on maps entirely covered by aquifers.

Yeah, but in unmodded DF, you can only make certain trap components out of wood: specifically, spikes, corkscrews, and spiky balls. Not axe blades/discs.

Lyrax, you'd only have to modify the traps themselves; not the dwarves. Have you been modding the traps?
