I'm noticing that people who voted for the competition are getting irrationally angry ("wtf hes only sexten how he drive van he cheets"), which means that you have essentially won.

hehe, the best comment (part of it at least) was this imo

Irrational rage on the internets makes for a gleeful Max!

When I was 16, the car I got was made up of at least 3 different cars. I inherited it three years after it broke down outside of a Digby junkyard.

300 votes ahead. When does this thing close? We have been going strong for a while now, and as amusing as it is to see people rage the crap out, it would be nice to close the case with a clear win.

When I was 16 I drove a 92 Lesebre that worked perfectly well and that I loved dearly. Wish that it hadn't gotten destroyed.

My first car was a 1988 Chevy Celebrity, covered in rust and Afro-Sheen.  It wasn't multiple cars, but it didn't last long either.

My real first car was my 1986 Jeep CJ-7, and that was definitely made of three other cars at least.  By the time I sold it, the engine block, radiator, rear differential, and air conditioner were all replacements, and the maddening search for compatible parts suggested that the carburetor, exhaust manifold, transmission, and most of the interior were probably also not from the original car or even the right model.  Probably nothing but the body was strictly a 1986 CJ-7 in the end.

Since I voted for you, I demand a right to "brag" about my first car:

Also, you will have to paint a great big "Bay 12" on your van's sides once you get it. Gotta acknowledge your benefactors, eh?

My first ride was a barely working stripped down Astro van. Damn thing was a coffin on wheels and liked to stall when turning onto highways. The speedometer didn't work and the wheels felt like they wobbled... I refused to drive it and it eventually got sold. God I hated that thing so much, it was ugly too. Solid white-ish with rust spots here and there. Anyways, I voted awhile ago. I'm surprised the contest hasn't ended.

Sorry for the necro post, but I was so excited I won, that I forgot about this thread! At this point in time, I'm pretty sure the van is made up of about 12 different cars, and the transmission has ground itself into a pulp (It still works... for now).

If When there's another meetup in Washington state, I'll definitely try to make it (in the van, if it still works), I owe you all!!!

Thanks again, and if you're interested in how the van (and my mental state) are holding up, I've set up a small blog at www.drstrangevan.com that gets updated regularly, aka once a year. (Sadly, 1and1 doesn't work well with payal, and as such, the site's down right now, but it should be up in a few days... hopefully.)
